Read this after hearing Allison Mooney speak at a medical conference. She is an excellent and entertaining speaker. An awareness of the four personality types can be helpful both at work and home. Of course we all have bits of all categories, but knowing our predominant one helps explain the differences in our reactions to different situations, and interactions. I found the book somewhat repetitive, hence the 3 stars. As a speaker, Allison rates 5 stars!!

Mooney groups personalities into four categories: Playful, Peaceful, Powerful, Precise. It's simplified personality type grouping, so it's pretty general, but insightful nonetheless. I prefer Myers-Briggs because of how specific it is, however most people seem to fit in to (or relate to) one of these four groups also. A handy tool for understanding one another, communicating & interrelating. Am a massive fan of sophisticated type tests if only for their ability (when used correctly) to help Mooney groups personalities into four categories: Playful, Peaceful, Powerful, Precise. This book focuses on the work/business environment, but I have found it to be helpful for home/social settings also.

Interesting and found it fairly accurate in describing personality types - I use a combination of Myers/Briggs, Astrological to relate to people in my business - just more tools to be able to create the "team" you want for your business. I take it all on the "chin" or whatever the expression - but heck at my stage in life, "what/which chin?" Have listened to Allison at a Women's Business Seminar and she is brilliant.

Great insights, but also poses some questions, while answering others. Overall a good resource that you could return to time and again when 'people issues' present themselves.
