I felt like there was a lot of chopping and changing.... stories within stories without actually telling us anything. I needed some questions answering to move me forward with the plot and the characters. I needed to know just a little bit more about the main H/h.... I needed the why, the how, something a little more to believe and feel... more of that carrot that keeps us readers wanting more..... My favourite quote from the book..... I've since read a blog from the author, writing is her therapy, and it seems the book is written like this for a reason she says, 'the tone of the story changes drastically between scenes.' Her aim is for it to be more character driven than about the story.... The characters are great and probably the main reason for the stars given. For me personally the story just needs a little more direction.... I admire her completely.... and... I would like to see this story further developed. ♥ BR with Deanna xoxo Arc kindly provided by the author, through Anna Wicked Book Addict, for an honest review.

Here is a quote from the book that somewhat sums up my feelings... “A tornado cluster of fucks rolled into one huge clusterfuck.” This story had so much potential but fell very short for me. The prologue was hot and had me wanting more. Chapter 1 is instantaneous lust and obsession. I can be good with that but this story was all over the place for me. I had to read to see if I could get answers to ALL the questions that surfaced, but what I got was more questions. I wouldn't have minded more questions but please give me some answers to tie me over till the next book. The story didn't flow as well as it could have, it was wordy at times, choppy at times but then it was really good at times as you can see from the quotes. Rene Leon Ackerley- 30 yr old arrogant, controlling, full blooded American man with European Royalty heritage, 5th richest man in the world, Time and GQ Man of the Year, fluent in multiple languages, and head of the South American Syndicate but have no idea what that is.....sounds like a drug cartel but it was never explained so I'm answering one of my own questions!! Evelyn, Evie, Eve- beautiful, sassy, from the ghettos of Brazil, 22 yrs old and is set on revenge but once again I have no information other than a blur in the beginning. I assume cause her twin sister is dead but she says that is her fault. How does she end up in Chicago....another mystery. Eve has 2 crazy Brazilian friends, Ella and Sam, whom she lives with. They all have secrets, very deep and dark ones. The obsession and feelings that Rene has for Eve is palpable. Sadistically, he glances at the Rolex on his wrist. Twenty-one minutes. That's all it took for the girl to bewitch him. Body, mind and soul. He is gone. "I am helpless. Driven by a pulsing stringent need that I must claim what is mine: You. I apologize in advance for any pain or hurt this entire journey is going to cause you. I just can't and won't let you go. I've never felt this way about anyone in my life. I'll be the biggest fool to turn around and walk away from it. I will regret it for the rest of my life. I can't Eve." Eve falls for Rene, she knows... From the moment I saw him, I knew those fire eyes were going to burn me to ashes. I can't explain my maddening reaction to him. It's his words, his eyes, his presence. The way everything about him zones in on me, seizes me and refuses to set me free. He looks at me as if he will die if he can't anymore. No man has ever paid me that kind of attention before. Bash Rose- Surfer looking, very smart, and powerful. He has loved Eve since they were little. They keep each other grounded and safe but does Eve truly love Bash? Did I mentions that Bash is also involved in the Syndicate too. As you can guess, Bash and Rene dislike each other. But Bash has been warned by a fortune teller that a man will come for Eve and that man is Rene. Let the games begin.....I was wanting to see the start of something between the men but there was nothing in this book. The ending was maddening and as I thought about it, predictable. All this buildup and well... Major, Major- WTF- Cliffy!! Will I read the next book, yes, but not with a happy heart. There is a lot of information that is missing and definitely more explanations are needed. I could have handled the cliffy if I was more invested in the characters and that what was lacking for me. This book was all about lust and obsession but was just missing information to grab you, hold you and make you impatient for the next book. Everyone is a bit mental which i have no problem with and everyone is a bit tortured, no problem there either.. So while Rene was running like a lost puppy behind her and Eve tried to keep him away, she fell for him too.. And then it all changed! No idea what happened or why or even how.. Was that whole thing in the airport intentional? A big misunderstanding? Did Bear lead her there on purpose? And so many other questions.. And i need the answers!!! THOUGHTS ABOUT THE BOOK - Her friends are peculiar.. - Why she doesn't want to tell him her name? - I hated her mother.. - Her sister was great! - Why everyone called him Bash Rose? Why not just Bash? It reminded me of this!I had a good laugh thinking about it.. - The scene with Sam and Judas was so tragic.. - Eve's past is a riddle.. - What was that about his sister.. And I mean introduce because you're treated to a dose of bat shit crazy situations, sexual attraction strong enough to cut the air with a knife and a lot of cliffhangers. It ended and I have no idea about what exactly happened...but I loved it and it scares me. Am I masochistic? ;D What's the fuss all about? Two dangerous men, one woman, dark secrets, violence...and once again, the men, obsessed men, obsessed with the idea of having Eve for themselves? So many aspects, so many questions... So the men, who are they? Rene: Mr. Rich control freak and totally Alpha, possessive male, associated with the Syndicate (Syndicate? another unknown) (view spoiler)[ The story starts with a teaser, yes, a teaser and a promise of more but where did that go? I wanna know... “I am going to fill your cunt so violently with my cum that no other man will ever be able to go in there again without you thinking of me. Without him smelling me on you. Do you understand?” (hide spoiler)] "Being this close to him, and feeling the rhythmic, arrogant way he walks, as if the entire floor belongs to this strong powerful body, makes me think of nothing else but brutal continuous fucking from this male" "Rene believes he is an omniscient force because he figured out his raison d’etre when he was just a boy. Control. He was brought into this world to control, to rule. " "For as he grew older, he realized control became as vital as the quality of the air that slipped into his lungs. He craves it, reveres in it. And when handed over with no restrictions, he excels to the heights of the sky in it. This is why he enjoys the awed silence his over six-feet frame and leonine build demands and receives from people." Rene was obsessed with Eve from the very moment he'd laid his eyes on her, even more when she made him her personal verbal punching bag "A thought, warning, cry. A plea. Bad-no, catastrophic, viral-like. Incurable. A weapon of mass destruction so potent that it kills everything in contact. Good-no, orgasmic, ecstatic. A colorful world, sunshine and rain. A one-and-only chance to right all the wrongs in life. A sudden rush of oxygen to a man buried alive. A phoenix being reborn. The very seed of life itself- strong enough to dispose of the broken, bitter specimen of a man the world has turned him into. A tornado cluster of fucks rolled into one huge clusterfuck. These thoughts zip in and out of Rene Ackerley’s head as he stares at her." “They see her as nothing but another pretty face. These men don’t know how lucky they are. I envy them. There is another group of men though; those who the instant they set eyes on her, are cursed. To want her, need her. They will never forget her. They will find her flaws mesmerizing, and oh is she flawed, all that temper, and she is still young so she can’t control her emotions!” Eve "whatshername" and the other characters - her friends, "adopted sisters" are tortured, abused with a case of big mouth and lots of pent up hurt and anger and a riddle of a past. She's one of the twins, the weaker one but luckier as she still lives, unloved by her mother with eyes that lack color, very peculiar "I learned that for girls like me, risks were the easiest path to a quick death. So I avoided them like they were a plague. This is why I am so bothered. Because from the moment I saw that man, every damn sense, or intuition in my body went off like a malfunctioning alarm all screaming one word: RUN." "I was the child the doctors gave a 90 percent rate of mortality, the twin who was not supposed to survive." Rene is the third wheel and Bash Rose is "the boyfriend" though Eve herself states that the thing with him is rather "comlicated". "Bash has always been my backbone; I can’t imagine life without him. I am too weak. I always have been. To be with Bash Rose, I need to continue to fight, to fulfill the reason destiny threw us together in the first place. I was fine with this. As of two days ago, I was. What happened then? It’s this morning. Sam and Judas. Strange and hard to believe, but seeing the damage pain and revenge can do to a girl as strong as Sam weakened my resolve. Revenge makes it impossible for the human heart to break free and hold on to anything else. I am ashamed, but the truth is that I don’t want to be angry anymore. I don’t want to hurt anymore. I don’t want revenge anymore, I think, tears spilling down my face. To be with Bash Rose, it’s impossible not to want those things anymore. They are our bond. But with Rene, everything is possible. How he threw himself out there. Chased me like a mad man. Got angry at me, and then bluntly told me, he couldn’t stay away from me. All of those things. I want them. The chase. The adoration. The look in his eyes. I want to experience it, even if it’s just for a little while. " There's something going on with the two ot them but it's all shrouded in mystery. "I need to forget that mouth, those eyes, and the feel of those strong rough hands on my bare skin. " "God, who am I kidding? I am in too deep already. I can’t forget him. I can’t forget him. How many days have we been apart? I’m already craving his voice, needing to feel that fire gaze as it burns every inch of my body. " I'm really curious what is the revenge about... For the majority of the story Eve played it cool while Rene has been chasing after her (purposefuly letting her abuse his perfect physique "The pain in heart is heavy. I can feel the weight of my soul. Because I want this man, but I’m scared to admit it, even to myself. I can’t understand how such a powerful man, from generations of European Royalty, will want anything to do with me, a girl from no background or money, a child from the ghettos of Brazil." "The high feeling I get just from being around this man is alarming. I literarily feel as if I am floating on clouds, feel as if I can achieve anything when he looks at me as if I am the center of his world. " "I know him, he is an honorable man. If he believes deep down this is how you feel then he will leave you alone. He can’t keep his distance from you because you are leading him on" She'd been trying to dissuade the unexpected cravings of her body and mind, but eventually she falled for Rene. "The high feeling I get just from being around this man is alarming. I literarily feel as if I am floating on clouds, feel as if I can achieve anything when he looks at me as if I am the center of his world. " But then again, there's Bash Rose, not just Bash, but Bash Rose (I'm wondering if he wears bowties too) "I have known René since he was boy and nothing, not a single human being has affected him the way you have from the instant he laid eyes on you. And here you are, quite cunning aren’t you? Dragging him along, while you have Bash Rose. You are never going to leave Bash Rose for Rene. I know you, I know girls like you.” "With Bash Rose, it was always a lecture. He watched, and gave me pointers. There was no sexual tension. Okay, maybe a little, but nothing compared to when I set eyes on Rene that night." "You don’t play with men’s feelings. Do you understand that, Eve? Do you know what you are doing? Blood will be shed if you don’t make up your mind. I’ve seen the way Bash Rose looks at you, it's the look of a man looking at the reason for him breathing. He will never let you go, not without a fight where lives will be lost.”" They'd seemed to be obsessed about each other but the way Rene acted at the airport? Was it intentional, planned, schemed? What the hell? And Bear? What's his role in this? Does he play the devil's advocate? So many questions...so little answers...I wanna more...

I cannot believe this book has not been getting more stars. Any book that makes me want to read the sequel right away gets 4 stars. The story just ended so at first I was frustrated and had to check whether there will be a sequel and I hear that there will be. Without a sequel, the book would have received a lower rating. I had no expectations and to be honest after reading the Prolong, I thought it was going to be another steamy romance/erotica with insta-love, insta-sex and no real story. I had no expectations and to be honest after reading the Prolong, I thought it was going to be another steamy romance/erotica with insta-love, insta-sex and no real story. Well I was wrong. There was a story, with the bonus of steamy tension between the two main characters. We got some background on Eve and I understood why she was so leery of wanting anything with Rene. At times, she thought so little of herself “…a child from the ghettos of Brazil.” When you first meet Eve, you may think she is moody and gets off on just being hurtful to Rene, but as the story continues, you will grow to like Eve’s character. Eve is kind, loving, and giving even after everything she endured and deals with in the present. The story starts in Rene’s POV and I was not very fond of him. Like Eve, he grew on me. The switch/timing in the POVs was perfect. I find that more and more authors who have dual POVs switch them too quickly not allowing the reader to absorb what one character is feeling/thinking before we get the insight on the other. Overall, I liked the book and am glad I read it.

Ella's employer is a killer among other things he is a part of the Syndicate and doesn't like to be disobeyed. Sam's long time boyfriend beats her while her daughter watches. It's all so messed up. Anyway Rene get's Eve to trust that he really wants her and cannot live without her. So Eve goes to him and what happen's? He totally pretends he doesn't even know her and has some blonde on his arm. What? It ends just like that! So many questions left unanswered. Eve had a sister she died and Eve blames herself. Why? Rene claims he has done bad things. What things? Rene also has a sister I think he is trying to protect but doesn't explain why? Bash is a part of Eve's past. How did they come together? Is Bash a part of this Syndicate? Is Rene a part of it? Why did Rene go after Eve to only ignore her in the end? I hope all these answers are going to be in the next book. Way to many why's in this one.

ok, here's the deal...I was completely intrigued and then it ended, ABRUPTLY??!?! I'm not sure how we got from the super hot dinner scene to "text me BLACK or BLUE in the morning"--a text that never happened, mind you--to "you must have the wrong person" at the airport. I had a few issues with this book. Unfortunately it ticked off some of my worst pet peeves.Let me explain. Character consistency. I like my characters to feel like they are a real person. Someone that I can relate to and understand. I had trouble doing this with Rene and Eve. They chopped and changed throughout the book leaving my head spinning some times as to what exactly was going on and whether I was still reading the book from that particular persons point of view. However I did like how we I had a few issues with this book. They chopped and changed throughout the book leaving my head spinning some times as to what exactly was going on and whether I was still reading the book from that particular persons point of view. However I did like how we did get the different point of view perspectives. Proof Reading. My spelling and sentences are atrocious so this is not me being nit picky or judgmental, however I felt that this book could have done with being proofread a little bit better.Sometimes a completely wrong word was put into a sentence. Now it could be because we seem to get thrown into the book at the "end"? and then brought back to the present but I loved the way the book started. Right in there guns a blazing, sexy over the top domineering sexy man Rene, teasing poor Eve. It is what kept me reading the book.I wanted to get to that part of the book, where both personalities had gotten to that stage in there relationship. The stuff leading up to that ( which is the rest of the first book) is a bit stunted and I was confused as to what was actually going on. Now this could be because this seems to be a part book, so we are supposed to have questions and thus want to read the next installment. However I will say that I was just a bit miffed by this stage. The characters seemed to have gone through a lot of personality changes, already so far, yet I cannot understand what is driving them. Why does Eve have so much hate for Rene at the beginning? Why when she is supposed to be so happy ( book blurb) is she really quite miserable ( mother hate, sister who died, boyfriend, but is he?) I feel we got a lot more clear information in the blurb, but it didn't translate into the book. See! I have so many questions. Finally, we end on a cliffhanger! Grrrr, why!Now I have done a lot of complaining here, I am so sorry, I am not meaning to be mean. I just think this book could have been better if things were slowed down a bit, there was more solid character building and background story explanation. After all the story was interesting if only we got a bit more to whet our appetites so to speak.

*ARR (Advance Reader Review) - copy provided as a gift in exchange for an honest review... I would actually like to give this book 3.75 stars lol The Cover: The cover is hot and absolutely caught my attention! The Characters: Eve is great. She is tough as nails yet delicate. She is a strong character and I would love to know a lot more about her past. Sam and Ellie are also strong characters but I didn't get enough background on Ellie. I would also love to hear more about them and their lives ( *ARR (Advance Reader Review) - copy provided as a gift in exchange for an honest review... Rene, hmm this guy I have issues with but it may simply be because I don't know him yet. I'm not sold on him yet. The Story Line: The story line was interesting, different and intriguing but I feel like I am missing something - I got lost a few times and still feel like i missed something along the way. The Writing Style: The writing style was ok but I had a difficult time understanding some of the culture related issues (but that is just me lol). There were quite a few spelling errors that threw me off at times. The Ending: I am pissed off at the ending...yes pissed off. wth was that lol. I will be waiting for the next book now! ...I am having a hard time reviewing this book because I did enjoy it yet at the same time I want so much more. There is so much more story to be told on all the characters that this could easily be a 10 book series lol. There is also something about this book I do not like and can't put my finger on it right now. It may be Rene's character. I guess I will just have to finish reading the series to figure out what is bugging me. I don't understand the business aspects of the story - what it is they do. I don't understand towards the end how they get away with certain things considering how Bash is and I totally did not get the ending - yeah yeah...next book, I know :) I would recommend this book but I would also say take it with a grain of salt and read between the lines because I feel like I missed something along the way and have no idea what it is or was LOL

This book was good aside from the cliffhanger (HA!) I hate cliffhangers. There were many areas where you wish for further explanation, but I think that was done for a reason. You start the book out in present time then flash to six weeks earlier. This book carries the POV's of Rene and Eve. The first half of the book is Rene and the second half is Eve. I do like having a male's prospective. Just something very enduring knowing what is going behind the male's eyes. Everyone involved in the story i This book was good aside from the cliffhanger (HA!) This book carries the POV's of Rene and Eve. The first half of the book is Rene and the second half is Eve. I do like having a male's prospective. Just something very enduring knowing what is going behind the male's eyes. Everyone involved in the story is damaged in one form or another. How are they damaged? You get bits and pieces as the story goes along, but it is not pretty. Eve lives with 2 friends and at best they struggle to keep their heads above water. Drowning not only in their pasts, but their present as well. I was left with many questions, but I think that I envision the direction of the story going, that was done on purpose. I will be reading the next one for sure and I hope there is an HEA there. I'd love to see a story for each of the girls and maybe the guys too, though at the moment I do not like Bear...Let's see if he redeems himself in the next book. I would recommend this to anyone, but with a strong warning of a cliffhanger.

Ok....what the hell just happened? That is my first reaction to Love, Succumb. Eve, Brash and Rene. Three very frustrating, confusing and real characters. I was given a copy by the author for an honest review. I can honestly tell you that I have reviewed several books lately. Some memorable and some not so much. This one is like a thorn in my side. I can't help but think of it. Constantly wondering what is going to happen in the next book. I kinda have a book crush on Rene, although the person he was throughout the story and the person he turned into at the end are conflicting to me. What happens at the end made my head swim. What the hell Renee?! Great story Eve, your mad writing skills has me anxiously awaiting the next book!

Still a bit shell shocked from this crazy, roller-coaster of a book. There is an intensity in Eve Davids writing that keeps your heart rate up as you dig into the characters and story she created. Really looking forward to part 2.

**Received in exchange for an honest review ** First of all let me just start by saying that there is a major cliffhanger at the end of this novel! “Because he just fucked and licked every reiteration of my name I have ever heard.” The book starts somewhat unconventionally, it's actually a bit confusing, but refreshing. It starts out with a very intimate scene between Eve and Renee, during a very aggressive yet erotic encounter between them, but it looks like it works for both of them. And then **Received in exchange for an honest review ** First of all let me just start by saying that there is a major cliffhanger at the end of this novel! And then the story transfers you back six weeks. Okay, so the chapter begins with Evelyn and her obvious despisal of Rene Leon Ackerley. He is a very self-assured, arrogant man. First Eve starts throwing insults at him and he gives back as good as he gets. This interaction ends soon and leaves you wondering. By this point I had a bit mixed feelings on this whole matter. I really like the fact that the book has alternating POV's but not narrated in the 3rd person, so you can see a glimpse of what's going on in both characters' heads, it makes you understand them better. Rene is a very wealthy man, obviously used to get what he wants and he goes after it. And that’s what he does when it comes to Eve. Eve's character looks really strong and feisty, but when we get to the story from her point of view, we can see that she is as scared and insecure as we all are. “I am a strong believer in dealing with your shit by yourself.” The initial confusion when I started reading the book started to fade away as the story progressed. Although I must confess I did miss a bit of an explanation about their characters, their personal history, what made them the people they are today. But since this in the first book in the series, I hope to get my wish fulfilled in one of the following installments. “From the moment I saw him, I knew those fire eyes were going to burn me to ashes.” There is something going on between the characters from the first moment they see each other, that much is apparent, but it's still a bit fast going for my taste. They have a kind of powerful magnetic attraction between them and are completely enraptured in each other. It still feels a bit fast for a person to develop such strong emotions towards someone. “And when drowning with guilt, you are your worst enemy. Simple.” When you read you know you have been drawn into a shady world, but you have no idea! There is some messed up s**t in here! The tension and waiting for the situation to unfold, to know what's going to happen was killing me!! It's like every single character in this book is messed up on some level. Everyone has had some major trauma that stained their lives and caused them to be the way they are. It breaks your heart when you read about Eve’s upbringing and the current situation she and her “sisters” are in. And Angel, that poor baby. No child should be living like this. Ever! But sadly, situations like these are all too real and often not seen or mostly ignored. “This is how it starts. Like a bean seed, hope plants itself in your heart, urging you that the impossible, can be possible. Hope breeds worthless faith into our fragile hearts, and then we begin to hang our life on it. We pray for it, yearn for it, and have faith for it.” And the ending?! Well, that was just a shocker. Why did nobody warn me about that?! Gaaaah! It left me mostly with questions, and a bunch of them for that matter, there are soooooo many things I NEED to know. I am waiting for the next book and I want it now! I am anxious to know what will happen, I know there is a reason for what happened and I really am curious where the author will lead these characters in the future. The person who gave me this book to review also told me that there will be a newer version of it coming out and I don’t know what the changes will be but I hope it will be nothing major so I can catch up quickly when the sequel comes out.

Wow, now even though I enjoyed reading this story & I found it quite original & unique, I am left in 2 minds about it. Not quite sure of the ending. It definitely leaves it so open for the next part & there is going to be more. There is no way in hell the story finishes there. Rene Ackerleys, extremely rich & influential beyond words. We spend the next 90% of the book with Rene trying his best to win Eve's heart. It's a war of the roses scenario, where love & hate run simultaneously. But both of them are extremely attracted to each other & both of them don't know how to react to these feelings. We have a lot of chemistry & fantasy sex. Funny the only sex scene was in the prologue & nothing actually happened for us to read, this is interesting, delayed gratification for us readers. Eve is broken & her past is what keeps her from falling straight away. Rene pursues her relentlessly. Eve has a current lover, Bash Rose & as it turns out to be someone that could be dangerous for Rene. But we are now to the stage where Eve is going to take the plunge & choose Rene. There is just so much crap going on in her life that I felt these distracting from the love chase that was opening up. Some parts of the story had a rushed feel about it. But confusion goes to the ending. Didn't see that coming & can't wait to hear the explanation from Rene for the way he treated Eve. He is the one who pushed & now he does this to her, when he knows that the walls to her heart are going to go up even thicker this time. Ignoring her & denying knowledge of who she is, hurtful. This poor girl deserves better than the treatment he gave her. When she goes back to Bash Rose, which she will it's only Rene who is to blame. I think Rene's friend Bear knew what the outcome of sending Eve to the airport was going bring. There is something more to the story, there always is. For this couple to have such a connection & not to consummate their relationship & then to end it where it did. This story is going to start out with more chase in the next book. The way Rene treats Eve at the airport is going to take a shit load of work to break through again. Not sure what the reason is & who Dominique is, but can't wait to hear it. But to say that Eve is nobody & loud enough for her to hear, wow. Rene, better get your grovel on mate, cause you have some work before you. Enjoyable read, very unique story.

This has been a difficult review to write. I don't like writing negative reviews. I should preface this review by saying that two stars, by my rating scale, equates to "ok." This book was "ok" to me. It had the potential to be more. I did read a review copy, so there were a large number of grammatical errors and instances of the completely wrong word being used. I'm not basing my review on those errors, but I hope an editor got ahold of the book before the final version was published. Love, Succ This has been a difficult review to write. I'm not basing my review on those errors, but I hope an editor got ahold of the book before the final version was published. Love, Succumb starts off with quite a bang. Literally. The opening chapter was freaking hot. Dirty and intense. It made me want to know what led this couple to *this* place of possession, lust and anger. What was their relationship? Who was the other guy mentioned? Unfortunately, the rest of the book didn't live up to this prologue. The writing didn't flow. I had a very hard time following the inner dialogue of the characters. None of them were particularly likable. Rene was a conceited ass, and not in the good way that many alpha male characters are written nowadays. The author pulled in bits and pieces of Pride & Prejudice in his dialogue - she "bewitch[ed] him, body, mind and soul" and later told her she was "not attractive enough to tempt me." Eve bordered on shrill at times. She was passionate, but I'm not sure where the hatred for Rene came from. I don't feel like it was ever explained. Her relationship with Bash made little sense to me. I just didn't see any chemistry between them. The other side characters were forgettable. I truthfully just didn't connect to anyone in this book. Being completely honest, had it not been for the first chapter intriguing me, making me want to know what led this couple to that point, I would have probably stopped reading. I kept hoping for more of an explanation, but I don't feel I ever really got one. This book had so many unclear plot points. The author was very clearly trying to write a novel with sex and intrigue, but it just didn't grab me. There were too many secondary characters who were part of side plots that were never fully flushed out. The promise is there, but it just didn't ever happen for me. I know this is the first book in a series, so hopefully some of these issues will be resolved with time, but I don't think I'll be reading the rest. I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.

***GUEST REVIEWER FOR BESTSELLERS & BESTSTELLARS OF ROMANCE*** Wow! What a cliff hanger. The first half of the book is written as third person POV and we follow Rene, a major player in the ‘Syndicate’. He’s powerful, sexy and has no desire to love a woman. He has reporter interviews set up at a restaurant that didn’t want to hold the interviews for him, but he used his name and muscle to ensure that they would accommodate him, and of course they did. He has reporter interviews set up at a restaurant that didn’t want to hold the interviews for him, but he used his name and muscle to ensure that they would accommodate him, and of course they did. Here is where we meet the heroine of the story Eve. She goes to interview Rene, only to be quite angry at him and attack him rather than interview him. When she cuts the interview short, he goes crazy because no one has ever challenged him and captivated him at the same time. So Rene sends his security to find her. The second half of the book is written first person POV from Eve. This is where we find out she’s in a relationship with Bash, who’s also another ’Syndicate’ big wig. Bash makes it clear that he loves Eve, however to me it felt that their relationship is one that was a mixture of comfort because they knew each other since they were kids, but also convenience because they were both after a common factor of revenge. The female lead does hold self-doubt, but I can see why due to her circumstances. She’s not just another whiny female, we do get glimpses of her upbringing and it’s not been painted as a pretty picture. The male lead, is very much Alpha Male. Goes and gets what he wants. But for me Bear, (Rene’s right hand man) should get his own book. His dark and dangerous and a little shifty. Yes, I quite liked Bear. The story, so far, is quite good. There are a few small things that I need clarity on and I just felt it lacked a little something tying all the characters in together, but that all could come in book 2 seeing as this was a cliff hanger. I did very much enjoy the premise of the book, and I'm still left wandering WHAT?? And WHY?? And of course WHO?? Job well done to the author. Overall a captivating story that held my interest and is definitely worth picking up.

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers. To view it, click here. Wow...where do I begin. First I need to say that Eve was completely awesome and gave me this arc for an honest review. Eve is a great character. She is complicated in that she is strong and capable but still vulnerable. Given her past and the pain she has endured I am not surprised by her strength or her vulnerability. She made me like her more over time, at first she can seem a bit harsh and off putting. He holds a wicked secret that has hurt Eve and yet he is so drawn to her that it is almost painful to imagine them not getting together. I loved and hated him. I loathed and desired him. I still am not sure I understood him completely. In fact, I am not sure I understood exactly what has happened in the book completely. But you can bet I damn sure felt it. The lust, the need, the intensity of feelings, the desire for revenge and the desire for love. This book took me on a journey that left me wanting to fill in the blanks. Why did so many different unending roads in this book? There is so much story I didn't get to read, and yes I know it is leading into the next book, but I really want answers now...lol I am kinda spoiled that way. Overall did I like the book? Absolutely. There is a lot of story going on, and you will get lost from time to time. But be patient. Don't just read the words, feel them. I give this book 3.5 lipsticks! =)

He seems so sweet to her in that Spanish restaurant but at the airport he is so cold and cruel. Did Bear set her up to go there and know what she would see? Finally convincing her to go back to her old life and forget about Rene? I feel like there is just a huge onslaught of information and I just want to know the story. I do like the book but don't love it. I want to read the next story because I was to see Eve grow a back bone and realize that Rene or no man for that matter has to support her, emotionally or physically.

I really liked this book. It was intriguing an HOTT! The characters haven't fully developed in the first installment of the series so I'm anxious to see how the next book plays out. I see some bad reviews and I can see some valid points, but I think the main reason people are complaining is because the story stopped so abruptly on a bad cliffhanger. I know I as a reader am impatient at times too, but I truly believe the next book will give a clear view of where this angst filled story is leading. I really liked this book. I received this book in exchange for an honest review. Finished and am vexed by the story; great premise, disjointed writing/narrative though, which made it a bit more challenging to read (at least for me). The first half of the book was 3rd person narrative from Rene's POV; the second half was 1st person Eve narrative. Wish we knew more about Eve's sister and what happened, but hopefully that will be revealed in future stories. The ending is a definite cliffhanger!

Huh? Oh my god, what happen? You can't leave the ending like that. The story kept you going. Amazing. I feel for Eve. I want to know more of her and her twin sister. Her mom blames her for everything. Eve is living a life to survive. She is with Bash only because he knows her and her past. She lives with 2 roommates that are mess up like her. Then she meets the riches guy Rene. When is book 2 coming out? This story is going to keep me hanging until I read the next one.

Received in exchange for an honest review I'm not one for writing negative reviews but unfortunately this is going get one. I didn't really enjoy this book, Eve screamed to much, I felt that there was not a real connection between Eve and Rene and I found myself skimming paragraphs just so I could get to the the end. The cliffhanger didn't make me want book 2 so its safe to say that unfortunately, or fortunately in my case, I won't be reading anymore in the series.

Too many questions left unanswered. I really hope Ms. Davids plan to write a second book and soon to clear up all the questions she left up in the air. I could not get involved with the lead characters at all. I like to be sucked into a story when I am reading and this just did not happen for me.
