In a dystopian society in which cities are overrun with chaos and violence, Angelina Cole has long since learned how to hold her own. She’s wild and unapologetic, and on the run. When small town cop Brandon Carpenter pulls her over, she finds herself entering a world wherein people don’t always have an agenda, and unsure how to negotiate when her body isn’t accepted as currency. I really enjoyed the unique world Ms. Espino crafted and hope she revisits it for future works. I really enjoyed the unique world Ms. Espino crafted and hope she revisits it for future works. It would make an interesting series. That being said, I did find the dialogue a little stilted and Brandon’s tendencies to will away his sense of duty—knowing how he should react, rather than how he actually reacts—a bit unbelievable, especially when Angelina’s small rebellions grew larger. However, these things were hardly enough to distract me from the book. It’s a very entertaining, engaging read, and hopefully there will be more from this universe in the future.

When Brandon and Angelina meet they seem like complete opposites. Angelina has some definite opinions of West Caper and the people that live there. These are not totally accurate and Brandon isn't like Angelina first thinks. These two butt heads at first and Angelina's opinion starts to change of Brandon and the town. Something happens and Angelina steps up and helps Brandon's family and Brandon. Enjoyed this book and the ending was really good!

This was entertaining, but not one of Espino's best books. I didn't love it, but don't regret reading it either. It is more of a novella than full-blown novel. If you are looking for a quick read, and the description sounds interesting, give it a shot.

I like the concept, but the heroine is overly sensitive and selfish. She doesn't think before she acts and her actions are always to benefit herself in some way. Yeah, I don't like it.

Engaging characters, fantastic premise, would have liked a longer story! But then I'm probably being greedy. :-)
