THOUGHTS A great novel, but I cringe and detest the ending because selfishly it’s not what I wanted. I felt that I went through so many different stages of emotions with Raven, that I can’t grasp the ending. I thought this book was well thought out and put together with each character leaving you riled up, excited, happy, sad or disappointed. I can’t begin to explain how evil I found Mizan. I think he’s the devil’s reject put on this planet to make everyone’s life miserable. Raven’s life was that of a naïve teenager/woman who was easy to manipulate. Her decisions will frustrate you but her intentions were good but misplaced. The path she chose in her life left a domino effect in her path that involved her family and everyone around her. Rich, Mizan’s friend is sick a deranged; Nikki, Raven’s best friend is a great friend and Ethic, he has a big heart. I would definitely recommend this book; it is storytelling at its best. This was a very good book. I rate it a 4.5. A real page turner. Raven was the daughter of a kingpin in Flint, MI. He kept his family removed from the lifestyle and danger by residing in a suburb of Flint. As Raven grew up, she wanted all eyes on her and she wanted to be older than she actually was. She was very pretty and had a nice body. Well she caught the attention of the wrong man, Mizan. Mizan was a stick up man. From their initial encounter I had a bad feeling. He was a man focused on family and a man of few words. He was my favorite character in this book. He was the bomb.com. I couldn't get enough of Ethic.

4 Holy Crap Stars This book was recommended to me by a fellow reader. I thought she liked me. But apparently not. I like a bad boy book. I like hard to love characters. But these people. She gets a gold medal in naïve and stupid. And it hurts everyone around her. Raven is the daughter of a very successful drug dealer. That makes her feel special, important and privileged. Her parents love her and want to protect her from the world they live in. But she can't help but want to get into the world of drugs, guns, and danger. She is drawn to it. Like a....that's right...moth to a flame. She had no idea that her past was just waiting for the right time to sneak up on her. No matter how hard she tried she would never be able to run from her past; sooner than later she was going to have to face it... Mizen is a bad guy. Not one redeeming quality. Normally I love these guys. But Mizen is also mean to Raven. He wants her so he can have control and power over her and her family. Raven is just a pawn. And she brings a world of hurt of everyone. Ethic is also a bad guy. He lives in the same world of guns and drugs. But he wants to keep Raven away because he knows she is more trouble than any woman is worth. He sees the trouble she is bringing to her family. He suffers for his sense of right and wrong. They all collide in a big bang of HOLY CRAP. The story starts with the end, so when things start to go right, you know they are going to go back to bad. So bad. Holy Crap Bad. And you can not stop reading.

Every step of the way I found myself rooting for Raven. So young, trying to live a fast life and getting caught up with people who didnt have her best interest at heart. A lot of tragedy went down in this book. I did love the girlfriend relationship between Raven and Nikki, always there for one another. And who couldn't love Ethic, he oozed swag and charisma as well as being street smart. This was definitely a good listen. The ending got me, didn't expect what was coming until the last minute. Mizan imo was the devil incarnate in fact he is the second character i have read this year that brought out deep hate i never knew i had. Good job Ms. Antoinette. Mizan is not aware of Raven's real age when they meet but when he finds out that her father is Benny Atkins(Drug Kingpin) it no longer matters he decides Raven is worth it and that she alone will be the come up he's been waiting for. The day Raven decides to be with Mizan against her fathers will is the day her life starts a downward spiral. She has no clue that Mizan's intentions are no good. He becomes obsessive and a control freak with Raven he beats her and introduces her to coke/blow. He eventually makes her believe that he is all she's got and convinces her to turn against the one man that would actually die for her. Her Father. Everything that ensues after that is chaos and when Raven finally escapes an old habit inadvertently brings it back ten fold. This tale was gritty and not exactly my cup of tea. Moth to a Flame was very well written and had some very good secondary characters as well. I really wish this book had a different ending. But life is not that way all the time. She lives in the suburbs because her father her to get away from all the crimes that was in the city of Flint, Michigan. Raven lives with her dad (Benny Atkins) mom (Justine Atkins) and little sister (Morgan Atkins). Raven goes to school in the city of flint with her best friend Nikki. One day Raven and Nikki go out to the club and Raven sees one of her dad’s body guards. She begs her dad’s body guard to let her in and he does but he pretends that he does not see her. When Raven and Nikki finally get into the club, Raven spots this really cute boy. The guy introduces his self and asks Nikki and raven if they want to go sit with him. So Raven and Nikki decide to sit with Mizan and his friends, everybody is having a good time. When they get outside they club everybody exchange numbers with each other, and while they were doing that they hear gunshots. Everybody starts running and taking cover so they won’t get shot. Mizan suggest that Raven comes with him so she won’t get hurt but Raven said she can’t leave until she finds Nikki. Mizan says “just get in the car and you can call your friend from there to see if she’s okay” Raven agreed with him. When they got in car Raven immediately called Nikki to see if she was okay, Nikki told Raven that she was okay and that she is with one Mizan friends. Raven and Mizan started hanging out more and more, and she also started missing school more and more. When Raven’s parents found out that she was skipping school just to hang out with Mizan Raven got in more trouble than ever. That’s when Benny’s lecture turned into an argument between him and Raven. One thing led to another and Raven said she was going to move in with Mizan and that’s exactly what happened. When Raven moved in with Mizan that’s when everything went downhill for her. Raven thought living with Mizan would be the best thing ever but Raven thought wrong. Ever since Raven moved in Mizan she was locked up in the house every day. Mizan did not want Raven to have contact with anybody. Raven even had to drop out of school and she was senior, Mizaon turned Raven against her own family. Raven’s dad got murdered and her mom went to jail so her little sister Morgan had to come live with Raven and Mizan. Raven’s dad died because the cops shot him and after that his whole house and everything else he owned went under investigation. The cops found out raven’s dad was a drug dealer and that’s when Raven’s mom had to go to jail. The author’s for writing this book is to tell people that you should never stay mad at each other for whatever reason there is. Life is too short for people to get in arguments and hold grudges. People should take life seriously but also have fun. They should do that because they only get one life so why not have fun. Just like Drake said in his song “You only live once that’s the motto n**** YOLO”. Drake is trying to say that just live your life the way you want to live it and not how anybody else wants you to live it.

Some of the things Mizan does and the way he sets things up, she's just plain....dumb. For her to not realize any of the manipulting that Mizan is doing, she clearly was not truly raised as a Kingpins daughter or perhaps she was VERY VERY sheltered as a child. Which was ultimately her downfall.

3.5 The story hooked me and had me truly invested in the characters. I really liked the book for the most part; however, can the woman catch a break!!!… I mean what a Freakin’ Disaster…Don’t lead me down such a Traaagic path only to end it in such a cruel way…I felt cheated. There were so many chance's for this story to change for the better, one should've been taken....This book should teach you not to shelter your kids to much, because they'll end up idiots.

This was a really decent read. In the beginning, it kind of put me in the mind of The Coldest Winter Ever with a little twist. I'm really picky about reading books that have errors in them and this book had quite a few. I was able to ignore them in the beginning, but towards the end, I was frustrated. There weren't many, but after building up, I just got a little annoyed (that's just me though). I felt her emotions and although I wished she would have made better decisions, I didn't judge her for them because I wondered exactly what I would do in the those situations. I predicted the ending...or so I thought and it had a surprising twist. This is a must read.

WOWWWWWWW! What can I say, one thing is for sure is that a hard head makes a soft A**! Raven was like so many of these young girls today, grown and hard headed. I was so disappointed in her on what she did to her father just to be with the ENEMY. I especially liked Ethic for being the man he was and always coming to the rescue, I think they were a good pair. New York Times bestselling author Ashley Antoinette captured all the obstacles a teen girl that’s trying to become women can face in such short time. The ways you can be manipulated and dictated all in the name of love. For this reason, I can see how she can be one of New York Times bestselling authors. This book has become one of my favorites. The main character is Raven a lustful, sweet and sour candy apple that could never be touched. She has never had to work for anything but lives the life of a million dollar child. And in the small city of Flint, MI her family was “royalty.” Her father was one of the city’s top drug lords and worked his hardest to take care of his family and keep them sheltered from the world he grew up in. His name alone stopped dudes in their tracks when it came to approaching his daughter. The tough streets of Flint bread nothing but rough and rugged boys and those that did push the envelope was only turned down by the smart but naive Raven. She thought she could never be touched because of her father’s name and status. That was until she got caught up in the little thing called love with Mizan. In this book you will find that people aren’t always who they seem to be and words can never be underestimated. The loyalty to someone can save your life but also kill you, which destiny would you choose? over all this was a great book that i think every teen girl even boy should read. you can learn great life long lessons from this novel.

Wow this book was phenomenal. From beginning to end it held my interest. I am so very sad though the way it ended. It seemed Raven never had a full chance at life. It's like her life was stolen at such a young age. It goes to show you how you precious life can be stolen by one wrong decision. So many women get themselves caught in that same trap, they get infatuated by one guy and he turns out to be the devil. I really would have liked it to have ended much happier but hey, it was awesome still.
