This book would have been great when it was originally released, but today is a little dated. It's definitely due for a revised edition. If you're a complete beginner, you will still find golden nuggets in this book, but I would suggest looking for something more current, especially with the introduction of build your own web business that do all the complex, behind the scenes programming for you.

Too basic. Doesn't contain info you can't already find on the Internet.

A bit too much geared towards the American market. Ok, but not essential. In such a fast evolving field as e-commerce, you can probably do as well with some carefully considered google searches.

This book is a great resource with lots of helpful information. I am not quite ready for some of it, but it will come in handy if I want to develop more of a business in the future. Good info about google and search engine optimization, tips for an appealing website, and trademarking. I will definitely come back to this one.

I'm going to push on rating it. It's long on can-do rhetoric, but focuses way more on online marketplaces and blogs than I wanted. My business is more of a service, and that wasn't covered a whole lot.

Well, part of the title was accurate. The second part. It seemed like the book was more about both how to think of an idea for a business, and how to expand and market your ebay/ currently existing business, while lacking practical information on the steps to take to manage an actual startup.

The author assumed that you were selling on E-bay and focused much of the book to this. However, there were some good tips for the new on-line business owner, like how to get a free domain name on the web.
