(view spoiler)[ after her boyfriend bets her off to the hero she breaks up with the boyfriend right there and she sleeps with the hero the same night, they have a ONS the hero fights his feelings for her because he doesn't want a relationship. So at first he tries to sleep with one woman that looks like the heroine but he calls the OW by the heroine's name and the woman leaves the second night he goes for a blonde woman totally different than the heroine. “I tried to convince myself that while it had never been a problem before, having two women with the same hair color, one right after the other, had become an issue. Always one to learn from my mistakes, the next night I decided on a blonde. No possible resemblance to the object of my unwanted obsession. And still I managed to fuck it up. Since she didn’t look like Tess, my unneeded subconscious decide to come out to play, comparing every move she made Tess. The way her hands wrapped around my dick, or how her tongue plunged into my mouth. Every moved felt forced. I didn’t want to fuck her, but I was determined to prove to myself—well, to my dick—that my need for Tess was ridiculous. So I did it. I fucked her. But not one part of me felt satisfied. It felt wrong. I sent her packing, just like a did to every other woman who I had between my sheets. Every other woman besides Tess. Whatever caused it, I was determined to work it out of my system. I went out again the next night and watched another blonde, but didn’t bother bringing anyone home. Not one of them got me hard. Enough was enough. Getting her out of my system by sleeping with other women hadn’t worked.” And of course the heroine knows about these OWS when the last woman went looking for him at his sport bar where the heroine is working for him, AWW the heroine feels so special because she's first woman that he lets sleep on his bed the whole night!!! OH YEAH THAT'S VERY SPECIAL.. To some it's not cheating since the hero and heroine had only a ONS and they weren't together when he slept and/or tried to sleep with the OWS but to me IT IS since he's been fighting his feelings for her and he does wants her so he propositioned a fuck buddies relationship and she refused. He sees her flirting with a customer and he becomes jealous and he tells her that she's his and they start a relationship. Really if he used his head instead of his small head he should've started with a relationship with her instead of trying to sleep with OWS. That to me its weak whore of a hero who can't keep it in his pants. (hide spoiler)]

I'll be honest, when I started reading, I wasn't so sure about this book. Miller was a compete douche bag, a womanizer, with a different woman every night, showing them to the door almost before the condom is off, so yeah, he was kind of a pig, but as the story moves along and we get to see the softer side of Miller, he started to grow on me and I warmed up to him. Underneath the @ssh0le, lies a heart of gold. Well, maybe not quite gold, but he can be a good guy. Haha Tess is a strong character and knows how to push back when Miller pushes. She doesn't take any of his crap. They mesh very well together. Miller and Tess had a great chemistry and the sex was steamy and plentiful. The storyline was interesting and intriguing, and the story well-written, with some twists thrown in I never saw coming. Highly recommended.

When I first saw the cover for this book, I was in two minds as I wasn't really in the mood to read a Mafia type book. As I got reading the book, it became apparent that it wasn't going to be like that as we’re introduced to our usual suspect of a playboy. One who has money and likes to sleep with women has a parade of them just wanting to get a night with Miller Hawes. As I got reading the book, it became apparent that it wasn't going to be like that as we’re introduced to our usual suspect of a playboy. One who has money and likes to sleep with women has a parade of them just wanting to get a night with Miller Hawes. He has the view of never wanting to settle down as who has time for relationships and apparently he is not the type of guy who can be loved or has time to be loved. By all means, he is your typical jerk. The thing though is that we readers know all about the misunderstood characters and more often than not, these are the ones that we fall in love with. The book started off with a Poker Match, and Miller Hawes wins one of the player's girlfriends's well now ex-girlfriend for the night. She has him captivated, and so he spends the night with her, and then one thing leads to another, and she ends up staying the whole night. For Miller, this is a first as he doesn't let women stay the night as that means something to him. Tess slips out in the early morning, and we are destined to believe that that's it. Over the next course of the novel, Tess finds herself in the midst of trouble as her ex-boyfriend Ray owes money to the wrong people, and they have come after Tess for it. One thing leads to another, and she goes to get a job at a bar and turns out the bar’s owned by none other than Mr. Miller Hawes. Now he has his girl back, will he do everything he can to hold onto her? What will happen when he discovers that no matter how much he wants to protect her, he can't help especially due to her need for independence and not relying on others as she’s taught everything comes with a price tag. Finishing House Rules by Rebecca Brooke, I have to admit that this book surprised me as I found myself enjoying it a lot more than I thought I would as I too came to love the character of Miller Hawes. Overall, if you love Romantic Suspense, Real love and not the true fairytale stuff that only happens in stories. Then check out House Rules by Rebecca Brooke today.

I love Rebecca Brooke's books and I can honestly say that this series is some of her best work. I loved Traded, so I was really happy when I find out there will be more of Hawes family. I can reaffirm, that I fall for this family even more. Yes, they deal in gray area, but they still have morals. You may snort at that and think this is a joke, because they have their fingers in all illegal stuff and have morals? But it's the true. They have lines, rules they will never cross. Hawes have more heart, then the person who portraits himself as good, law-abiding citizen, but will turn his back without blinking, when you may need help the most. But saying that they have a heart, it doesn't mean that they aren't dangerous. If you fuck with them or theirs family, there wouldn't be safe place enough for you to hide. And talking about main couple, Miller and Tess... They were flame and explosion. There wasn't dull moment with them. You can't be indifferent to them. Would that be you were laughing with them or just being aggravated at them. And believe me there were lots of exasperation. When they clashed over something sparks where everywhere. They both needed to learn what it means to be part of relationship. Miller needed to stop being to much of an overbearing asshole. Which by the way was part of his charm. So, maybe it wasn't a big problem. At least for me. Tess needed to stop being so stubborn. To accept that sometimes it's okay to lean on Miller and for him to help to take some burdens of her shoulders. Accept that his over the top alpha decisions where from the heart, needing her to be safe and always happy and not because Miller was expecting payment in return for it. Even though I enjoyed this book, it's not at the same level as Traded. Don't get me wrong, House Rules was good. It just even though Miller was something wonderful, after he stopped being stubborn dick of course, (lol) Ashton still is my special person in Hawes family. And so far, no one was able to push him out of throne. You don't need to read Traded before this one. But I really recommend to start Hawes journey from the beginning. Because yeah, you need to meet Ashton.

I didn’t even realize that Miller was getting his own story! So imagine my excitement when I found out that Rebecca Brooke did give him his story with HOUSE RULES! Eek! I wouldn’t even say that I have a favorite between the two brothers – but Miller is definitely much more intense than Ashton, that’s for sure. Whew! The Hawes brothers seem to follow the fashion to win their one woman – either by her being traded for a debt or, as in Miller’s case, by winning her in a poker game. What the hell? The Hawes brothers seem to follow the fashion to win their one woman – either by her being traded for a debt or, as in Miller’s case, by winning her in a poker game. What the hell? Yeah, Rebecca Brooke surely knows how to lure her readers in with the synopsis alone. Miller does not believe in love and he does not make a secret out of it in front of the different women he beds every other night. Quick and casual encounters, that’s what he likes. It fits his altogether jackaxx persona he has to put on in his line of work perfectly fine: Preparing to take over his father’s company, mayhem, ruthlessness and corruption are on his daily agenda. A distraction isn’t what he needs right now at all. And yet all it takes is one game, one insane bet to twist his life around completely; because his prize isn’t at all like the other women: Tess challenged Miller and didn’t fall for his bad boy advances – he finally had to work to get into a woman’s panties! She is independent, feisty and sweet – which brings out a different side of him he never thought he possessed: He feels protective over her, and one thing becomes very clear: That one night he won with her will never be enough… Miller needed a strong take-no-prisoners-woman to tame him, and Tess was just the perfect match for him. She stands up to him – something that no other woman ever dared before. And Miller … I loved his brutal honesty and that despite being a total manwhxre that he didn’t once deter from his quest in seducing and keeping Tess. Watching their chemistry and tension unfurl and strengthen as the story progressed definitely was fun. Overall enjoyed this story very much, which definitely is lighter as its predecessor while still balancing on the darker side of romance. I also loved that we got to see more of Elena and Ashton – to see more of Elena coming out of her shell brought a huge smile on my face. A suspenseful and thrilling ride with a bit of angst thrown into the mix. I’m looking forward to more (yes, this time I know that there’ll be more!) of the series! Now I listened to the audiobook version of this story, which was once again narrated by Honey Scarlett and Leeroy Will. Those two are a well-rehearsed team when it comes to duet narration and I loved Honey’s soft tone in contrast to Leeroy’s rumbly timbre. They portrayed each character perfectly and will be looking for more of their works.

Miller does have a bit of an Alpha side to him, but I think considering his line of work, I was expecting a little more with him. He was almost too nice, and too loving to make me fall for him considering his background and profession. I’m a fan of dark romance, so maybe that’s why I say this. The story sucked me in quickly. I found it interesting, and easy to read. There was something off for me with the last few chapters. It felt a little rushed, and also maybe a little too much was crammed into a particular scene to make it believable. I know I’m pointing out a few things that I found I didn’t like so much, but overall I did enjoy this book very much. I would recommend this book to other readers.

Is it bad that I like this book better than the first one? There is just something about Miller that draws you in and hold you captive. He is so much more swoon worthy. Audiobook Review As much as I enjoyed book 2, it did start off a little similar to book 1. With that being said, what a difference in the female lead. Book 1 Elena was a weak and a controlled wife, in this book Tess is a spitfire and won`t take shit from anyone...at time I think her independents caused her more problems, than if she just said thank you, LOL. Anyway I liked her lot, and she certainly was a match for Miller that's for sure. House rule by rebbeca brooke, an interesting read. Being won in a poker game was never Tess's dream, which makes her a normal, sane woman, but that is exactly what happens when your ex-boyfriend can't play the game, nor win. Miller despises little rat, weasels who can't pay up, nor does he like the maltreatment of women and children. When Tess is offered up, he agrees, but only to get her away from the scum who believes that women can be easily bartered away.

Loved this book!!! This is the second book in this series, but can be read as a standalone. My personal opinion is that you should read the first book, cause it will give you some insight on the background characters. This book is an intriguing read and also hits you right in the heart. I am looking forward to the next in this series.

Not enough The foundation of this relationship is sexual chemistry; but, the hot and steamy lasted a minute. The first encounter wasn't worthy of the hype; yet, hero and heroine couldn't stop thinking and dreaming of one another. No other woman would do. For me to believe it there would have to be much more to it.

This world and family is one that I have come to love, and Rebecca Brooke delivered another fantastic story in House Rules! Miller Hawes didn't believe in love, and preferred to keep his encounters casual and quick, never letting the women he slept with actually sleep in his bed. They used him as much as he used them, and that suited him fine. But when he won a night with Theresa in a poker game, he never expected that his life would change. She was beautiful like all the woman he usually spent time with, but unlike the others she didn't fall at his feet or jump for the chance to be in his bed. Miller is determined to focus on taking over his family's business now that his father has stepped down, but after his night with Tess he finds that he can't get her off of his mind. I loved Miller and Tess! They were great together and I loved that she made him work for it. Miller was brutally honest with the girls that he normally hooked up with and often times that made him seem like a real jerk. Yet he was so different with Tess, and I loved how protective and alpha he was with her. She was his right from the start, and he definitely made that known. Tess was strong and independent, and I was so glad that she challenged Miller. She was exactly what he needed and it was so fun to watch the tension and chemistry between these two as the story progressed. These two were beyond hot together and I couldn't get enough of them! Overall, this was a great story and I loved Miller and Tess. It was so good to see Ashton and Elena again as well, but Tess and Miller were just as amazing as they were and I truly enjoyed this book from start to finish. Rebecca Brooke captured my attention right away with House Rules, and I didn't put this book down until I had devoured every last word. I am so excited that she is continuing to tell stories in this world, and I can't wait to get Brock's story next! **ARC Provided by Author**

Set in the world of illegal gambling, House Rules by Rebecca Brooke was a sexy and emotional story about two people thrown together by unusual circumstances, leading to an unexpected romance. What followed was a passionate and tumultuous journey that neither of them anticipated. I loved Miller in Traded, and was excited to see what his story would bring. He seemed to have a dark and dangerous edge to him that I wanted to see more of. Brooke does a great job writing her characters, giving the multiple layers and allowing the reader to delve into their personalities through dual POV. Miller was a complicated man, one who was dead set against any kind of romantic entanglement. Despite watching his brother find happiness with the woman of his dreams, he was adamant about remaining a bachelor. Tess was the first woman to ignite a spark in him, and although he tried to fight it, it was hard to ignore her and the feelings she caused within him. Tess was a great character as well. She was strong and spirited, and she stood toe to toe with Miller from the very beginning. She was understandably guarded due to her past. The two of them had some great banter, and some epic battles as both of them refused to back down. She wanted to hold on to her independence, and he was overwhelmed by a protective side he didn't know he had. There was a great connection between them that went beyond the physical attraction, and the author did a great job exploring that. They had some pretty big obstacles to overcome both with each other and with the threats against them. The story was well rounded and had a good mix of romance, emotion, and suspense. I loved seeing the characters of Traded again, especially Ashton and Elena. The scenes when the whole family gathered together were some of my favorites. I am so excited that Brock is getting his own book, which is sure to be another great story by Rebecca Brooke.

I received a copy of this book for an honest review. I knew Miller was going to be great after Reading Ashton’s book. He was always giving his brother a hard time. I knew it was only a matter of time before the tables would be turned. Miller was about to have his life shaken up when he finally meet his match and boy was Tess definitely that. Miller was a playboy that could have whatever woman he wanted and had a different one every night. Miller was a playboy that could have whatever woman he wanted and had a different one every night. His dad was going to turn the family business over to him someday but his dad didn’t think he was quite ready with all his shenanigans. One night at his poker tournament he won a little more than he bargained for that night because he won Theresa for the night. Theresa was not one to roll over and take things. She was strong willed and a fighter that would put Miller in his place. Theresa had a rough life and only ever wanted to be loved and accepted but for some reason always ended up being used and taken for granite. I absolutely loved the first time she meet Ashton and allowed him to call her Tess but never gave that option to Miller. When she meet his parents for the first time my heart went out to her and I wanted to head slap Miller. Miller did what he thought was right but it never seemed to goes as he planned or thought. *shakes head* Miller has never been in a relationship and could have taken some pointers from Ashton. Miller should have taken some cooking lessons from him too. The breakfast scene was great. I am enjoying this series and it looks like Dean is next. I am so ready to get to know him.

Tess was sold out by her ex he didn't have enough money so he used her as leverage in a card game, Miller wins the game and they end up going to dinner then back to his place for one night of hot sex they both end up falling asleep but she wakes up before him and decides to leave thinking it's better than being kicked out by him, he's not too happy she left and he can't stop thinking about her no other woman hold his interest so you can imagine his delight when he walks into his sports bar and discovers she now works for him, they begin what starts as a sexual relationship but grows to become much more than he could ever have imagined. However a crazy ex and an even crazier business rival cause a ton of problems for Miller and Tess but it only brings them closer in the end. This was my first book by Rebecca and I loved it I've already one clicked Traded and a few others. 5 out of 5 stars from me.

I honestly didn't realize this was Miller's story from Traded and I wanted to know his story so bad! I was completely surprised and couldn't stop reading about Miller and Tess. Miller is exactly who I thought he was, a womanizer who has no desire to settle down, ever. He likes his lifestyle and with his career he has no choice but to accept the fact that he is his only happily ever after since being burned by a woman in the past. Theresa aka Tess is done with her ex after the stunt he just pulled. She will do everything she knows to keep herself protected and not to owe anything to anyone. That includes any help from Miller. I understood her need to do things for herself but at the same time her stubbornness was a bit excessive until it was no longer an issue. I loved how Tess would put Miller in his place and knew when to back off. I have read a few Rebecca Brooke books and they always capture my attention from the first chapter. She writes books that hit home. Brooke knows how to create characters that are well developed and make you want to know more about their futures. I am so excited to know there is still more to come!

    The Book Fairy Reviews

Ambition, power and the family business are what Miller is all about, that and proving to his father that he can handle it all when the time comes. Passion, romance and heat , yeah Miller and Tess have that all in spades. Danger and suspense that is thrown in for good measure as they fall for each other kicking and screaming along the way. They are each other;s perfect match, if only they would let their stubborn selves see it. I love how protective Miller is and how he grows through out this book. I love how independent Tess is, she is the type of woman that you can admire. I can't wait to see what happens next!

What an amazing book this was to read, I loved book one with Ashton, but I think his brother Miller has stolen my love away. This book is all about a poker game gone wrong (or right depending on how you look at the situation), Miller wins a night with Theresa (slime ball Ray offered his girlfriend up as ante when he was short on cash and Miller wins the hand and the girl), but what starts out as a friendly dinner to claim his winnings soon has Millers boxers all in a knot and wanting and feeling What an amazing book this was to read, I loved book one with Ashton, but I think his brother Miller has stolen my love away. What I loved most about this book was Tess, she is a strong, independent women and no matter what Miller tries to throw at her, she stands her ground and does it on her own two feet, only taking when she is down. Miller and Tess have a rocky start to their relationship but the twists and turns that are thrown at them will have you rooting for a happy outcome for them. Cant wait for the next book in the series.

Oh I thought Ashton and Elena's story was a rollercoaster! Miller and Tess are just as bad! I love the concept of this story! Miller is tough as nails but all it took was one look at Tess and he was on his knees. Even though he refused to admit it!! I love Tess's strong will and her independance. The banter between both Miller and Tess is amazing as well as their chemistry. Sizzling to say the least!! The whole back story to this one had me floored and I found myself really wanting more. Overall, this series is just stunning but I think I like Miller's story the best. He is hard core but when it comes to Tess all bets are off. The character build is amazing and you get the continuation of the prior in it as well even though this one can be read as a standalone! Absolutely stunning! I really cannot wait for more!! Bring it on!!

    She Hearts Books

After reading Ashton and Elena's story in Traded, I couldn't wait to read more about his brother in this book. Miller was brash and ballsy when we first meet him at a poker game. He didn't let any women into his life for more than the physical. All that changed when he won Tess for a night. She completely rocked his world. I loved that Tess was strong and sassy and such a good match for him. They were off the charts hot together and I loved watching Miller fall head over heart for his girl. Mistakes... Elena, the female lead, is in a bad marriage, until one day events take a quick odd turn. I didn't like Elena that much, she was really passive around her husband but she acted a complete opposite with Ashton. This story is about mistakes, a new start, and is an overall interesting but could have been slightly different. Honey Scarlett and Leeroy Will did well with the narration. Miller Hawes knows what he wants and how he wants it. He runs his businesses like finely oiled machines and his personal life like a turnstile. Until Tess falls into his club. House Rules is a fantastic follow up to Traded. You think you know the story going in to it, but Rebecca Brooke's found a way to keep the story new and fresh while keeping you invested in the characters. Already looking forward to the next book!
