Spoilers The usual YA fluff, it would have actually been a fun read if the 'hero' hadn't been such a horrible-dim-twit and if the heroine had some self-respect and wasn't so desperate about someone who didn't give a damn about her. The secondary characters and the friendships between characters were written well though. -Angel was nothing but a doormat, she was a fun character before, but she turned into a whiny, needy, pathetic mess as soon as she met Marcus. He kept insulting her and walking all over her and showing how little she meant to him, but the silly cow kept chasing after him no matter how badly he treated her. The most annoying thing was at the end after all he'd done to her she was the one who was apologising to him and begging for forgiveness when she'd done nothing wrong. He was the one who needed to redeem himself but that never happened. She seriously needed to get a spine and some self respect. -Marcus was the absolute worst, he treated Angel like crap for pretty much the entire story. He did nothing but constantly judge her and think the worst of her. Even when she was in danger he didn't believe her, and when he did sort of believe her he wasn't bothered that she could die, he was more concerned about getting to play his music than whether she was dead or alive. His excuse about not believing that she was in danger was ridiculous as well since he'd seen that Davis guy attack her the day before. I don't know why Angel forgave the fact that he was pissed at her for ruining his concert by deigning to be kidnapped and close to death, his attitude regarding that whole thing was unforgiveable. Then there was his non-apology at the end, Angel thought she was going to play her music with her favourite band live, but instead he made it all about him and stole her thunder. Also, him writing a song for her wasn't enough to make up for his callousness, especially when he'd already wrote a whole other album about some other girl, Angel was nothing special but she was too stupid to realise that. He was a pathetic excuse for a hero. -Why was Victor not doing anything about his girl? He was just letting her rot in a prison in some war torn country. -Don't know why the series is still called Benedicts when they're nothing more than background characters now. -The way the series is going with each hero being crappier than the last, I expect the next one to go all out with his douchiness and try to kill the heroine.

This series is a bit of a comfort read for me, the books are all cute, funny and incredibly easy to read and they're perfect palette cleansers when I'm in the mood to read something light hearted. Angel Dares is a perfect summer read since most of it takes place at a music festival. We met Angel in the previous book so this story gives us a chance to catch up with previous couple Misty and Alex as well as some of the other Benedict brothers that we've all fallen in love with along the way. Angel is a talented musician and singer and along with her band she's at the music festival hoping to land her big break, the last thing she expects is to stumble across her soulfinder. Angel is a little wild and very impulsive which has a tendency to get her in trouble, her Savant powers allow her to control water which makes for a fancy party trick but she has to work very hard to keep her secret because using her ability is second nature to her and she has a habit of using it as a way to calm down when she's nervous. Marcus is her complete opposite in most ways, he's also a talented musician but he's part of an already successful group and they're headlining the festival. He is much more serious than Angel and doesn't really know what to make of her, it really doesn't help that he knows nothing about the Savant community either he doesn't even know that he has an ability so the whole thing comes as quite a shock to him, especially when Angel starts talking about Soulfinders and communicating with him telepathically. I loved Angel, she was so much fun and she's definitely the kind of girl you'd want to be friends with. Marcus is harder to like and at times he really annoyed me because of the way he treated Angel. I get that she threw him for a loop and he was struggling to know how to react to her but let's face it he was a bit of an arse at times and there were moments when I found it hard to root for them as a couple. No matter how much he irritated me one minute he did have some incredibly sweet moments and the more you find out about him the easier it is to understand where he's coming from, I wish he'd come around just a little sooner (and I could have done without one particular event towards the very end of the book) but it all worked out in the long run so I've forgiven him now. I love that there is always some kind of mystery or extra element to these stories alongside the romance and it looks like the Savants are now facing an enemy who is determined to get evidence of their powers and expose them to the general public. I'm not going to go into more detail for now but I will be very interested to see how that continues to play out throughout the series. I also love that we're getting to see the older Benedict brothers find their soulfinders throughout the series, I get that they're a little old to be main characters in a YA series (although I really would have loved separate books about each of them!) but this is a nice way to tie all of the stories together. It's Will's turn to fall in love in Angel Dares and I'm really hoping Victor will be up next as he's always been my favourite! The main character of the next book, Summer, is best friends with both Angel and Misty so I'm sure we'll be seeing more of them and I'm hoping with the introduction of a new group of Savant characters means that the series might continue on beyond Summer Shadows.

As soon as I finished Misty Falls I just knew that I had to start Angel Dares next because although Misty’s story was over, I was excited to see what would come next the Savant world and of course I wanted to get to Angel more and find out about her story. If I’m honest, I’m not really a massive fan of stories because based around music so I tried not to judge this book too much before reading and give it the benefit of the doubt and I’m surprised I enjoyed as much as I did. I think it definitely helps that the book is written by Joss Stirling though. Like I said before, I really enjoyed reading Angel Dares. It's a great addition to the series and makes you more invested in these characters and their lives. Angel is such a fun character that you see all different sides to her personality during the story. She can be fun and honest at times but she can also be a little rash and by being so, leads her into trouble. But that's what makes this story so good. Angel is an unpredictable character so you just don't know what kind of trouble she's going to get into but you can guarantee, it'll be dangerous. When Angel meets Marcus it's definitely a love-hate relationship but with a slight twist. Most of the other stories in the series have been about people that already know about the savant world because they're aware of their gifts. But what happens if someone doesn't know their a savant? And that's the case for Marcus. I really liked that Marcus didn't know anything about his gifts - it definitely put a strain on his and Angel's relationship but as a reader it was interesting to read. I also liked that Marcus' story brought new characters into the fold that weren't aware of their savant status. It makes me interested to know more about them! It's clear the savant world is becoming more and more dangerous but with every book I read, I can't help but wanting more. I'm eagerly awaiting details on Stirling's next book in the series and I can only hope she doesn't stop there either. In all, Angel Dares is a daring and page-turning read and a story that you should definitely read! Thank you to Oxford University Press for giving me the opportunity to review this book in exchange for an honest review.

Joss Stirling's SoulFinder series is one of my favourites. I love the whole idea of the Savant community and the fact that all these couples are destined to be together but have to find each other first. He is originally distrustful of her gift and refuses to believe in the savant community which makes their relationship extremely difficult. Angel however, is such a positive person that she won't be deterred and tries to get him to change his mind, with often mixed results I might add. I have to say that as much as I love this series, I am a little disappointed that the direction of the stories has shifted away from the Benedict brothers and instead has focussed on some of the younger characters. I would have loved to have seen the whole book based around Will and his personal search for his soulfinder but this was relegated to being nothing more than a sub-plot. I realise that some of the brothers are slightly older, so I can only imagine that they were deemed too old to be the central focus of a young-adult series. All the same, I miss seeing them at the heart of the story. There were glimpses of them in the book though which did keep me very happy. I thought the plot was good, especially the inclusion of the threat which hangs over the heads of the savants. This led to a really dramatic conclusion which was both exciting and gripping. Hopefully the next book in the series will be about Victor Benedict who has always been one of my favourites. I'm hoping that he will eventually be lucky in love!

Ahhhh I'm so happy to see another one! Totally luvin this series, it's so cliched and the romance is cheesy but its fab and super entertaining. I like my protagonists to be witty sassmastas and Joss Stirling does it right, can't wait...

The fifth installment of the Benedicts series, Angel Dares take the readers on a romantic adventure of soulmates. Angel is a musician with the band Seventh Edition, a violinist to be exact. Her spunky personality is constantly getting her in trouble, but that doesn't stop her from trying to help one of the Benedict brothers find thier soul-mate, or soulfinder as they call them in the world of Savants. Savants are people with special abilities, like telekinesis, water-bending and detecting lies. Each book that has written by Joss Stirling in the past has been superb, therefore I am not surprised that I fell in love with Angel Dares. It's voice and characters held my attention captive, leaving me unable to put the book down. Each character and each moment was developed, unique and emotionally charged. I found it interesting how the soul-finder situation went down for Angel. (Don't worry, no spoilers) I found that I didn't really like the romantic lead, but at the same time loved him as a character. In Angel Dares each character is unique and rounded for a better reading experience. The plot of the novel was not the deepest, but was still riveting and had me wanting more. I most definitely recommend Angel Dares and the Benedicts series, and give Angel Dares the rating of FIVE STARS OUT OF FIVE! Want more of me? Go to: http://thenotsopubliclibrary.blogspot...

Omg!!! This book!!! Wow!!! I absolutely adore this series, but I think this book is my fav hands down!!! Like mixing rockstars, good music, couple of yummy Benedicts and soulmates? Heck yeah sign me in, man!!! I loved everything in this book, the characters, the action, the story line, the length of it, absolutely everything. I love how even if this counts as romance we still have badass action in spades. Loved the heroine soooo much, soo funny and loony, she is perfect. The hero is my soulmate, Omg!!! This book!!! Wow!!! Actual rating: 2.5 stars I hate that I'm giving this a low rating. I like this series and the idea of savants, but this one just didn't cut it for me. The first three books were great, the fourth was okay, but I just couldn't rate this one any higher than 2.5 stars without it being a lie. I'm not saying that I hated the book. It was fun and easy to read like the rest of the series, and it did have me laughing in places. But it also had me cringing a lot of the time. Angel and Marcus, to say they were the main characters, were very bland and I didn't like either of them - I preferred the side characters to be honest! I know for a fact that 13 year old me would have loved this book and given it five stars straight away, so maybe the fact that I'm now 20 made it such a let down for me.

It should have been Will's book. Don't understand why the brothers are being turned into the side characters where we witness them finding their savants from some next person's point of view. I can't feel my babies love and passion, there's just no substance to these books anymore, it frustrates the hell out of me. This could easily been a novella instead of the full length book. 4.5 stars (Under Construction) ... (My opinion about the story will follow soon) ... Angel was a perfect heroine, I loved her positive nature and optimism. Although she had to be rescued on more than one occasion I never thought that Angel is the typical damsel in distress. She made mistakes (some of them where stupid but totally understandable for a girl her age) but that made her human and likeable. She wasn't perfect but who is? Marcus was more difficult to like as a perfect romance hero although I liked him in general as a hero. In Angels position I would have hated him (and sometimes she did something I completely understood) because he was an asshole and not only for the first half of the book! Sometimes his behaviour was understandable but that doesn't mean that a romance hero should act this was. (view spoiler)[She was abducted and he hesitated to save her because he was on stage and didn't believe that she was in danger. (hide spoiler)] Till the end I didn't knew how Marcus and Angel could get to a HEA and thought that the solution at the end wasn't believable because Marcus made too many mistakes for Angel to forgive him so easily. It was a nice and sweet ending but too rushed. I liked a thing she said after he let her down that she first feared that he would hate her but that she now fears that she will hate him in the end. I was surprised that the publisher changed the cover design because the new cover is similar but not as beautiful as the original cover (which is the cover design here on GR). The new cover is white and not the silver colour we know from "Misty Falls" and the font and cover are not as colourful. The wings are in the same pink as the font only one heart (why?) is black... The new cover is nice too but the previous design is definitely better. (Is there a trade paperback version with this design? I only found my smaller paperback version...) One thing that surprised me in a bad way (the design change was just a surprise) were the typos I found. I know that typos CAN happen but in a professionally published book they shouldn't happen, there were grammar mistakes like "She like the book" but also completely different words like "She rates it." instead of "She hates it". This is the first non only e-book published novel were I found so many mistakes.

The only reason why I can't give this 'second trilogy' 5 stars is because I'm not as in love with the guys as I was with the Benedict brothers. But it was very fun and I really liked Angel and seeing another Benedict brother finding his soulfinder! Only one more book to go sadly...

This book is like one of those situations you dream up where those that have hurt you are riotously put in their place and you come out on top with everything going perfectly for you, and a smoking hot girl/guy/whatever your partner identifies as on your arm. It's way too perfect to be true, yet still fun to imagine and makes you feel a little better. And really, that's what fluff novels are for. I have to admit, I'm not the biggest fan of Marcus - he's a bit of a jerk. I am also disappointed to report that there were mild traces of sexism. Sigh. Other than that, it was a quick, funny novel that only took me a few hours to get through.

Meh. One of my favourite literary families and that's all I can say. What happened, Joss Stirling? It seems like someone else wrote this book. Someone who tried desperately to speak in a British accent but didn't quite get it right. Someone who left out so many things about the Benedicts and character background (I mean what do we really know about Marcus except he's gorgeous and blond). Will had such a minor role in the book and I know least to nothing about his soulfinder! Like please describe Meh. One of my favourite literary families and that's all I can say. I'm glad that this isn't Victor's book but now I'm starting to worry about what his story will be like (you better not screw it up!). And I just realised that the last three YA adults that I've read all featured musicians. Coincidence?

I love Angel, she's such a fun and full of energy character. I really really love this book, maybe because I'm a fangirl and very into music myself. But it's so good! And well Marcus OMG Cohen is part of this book, so yeah, what else should I say. (he is kinda mean and stupid sometimes but you just have to love him) I'm also really happy Will is the main Benedict in this one, cause I love that guy! And his relationship with Angel is the cutest.

It just so happens that I got to review this book at the perfect time, and it did pick my mood up immensely! I knew this book would be no different, but I didn't know it would end up being tied for my favourite. I was really sad that I didn't have time to re-read the other books, because I would have loved to and I feel like I'm due a re-read anyway, but I didn't. With or without re-reading, it was easy to slip back in to the world of the Savants and the familiar characters. This is a series entered on Misty and her friends, Misty being the niece of Crystal from the first trilogy. Because I didn't get to re-read....I may have slightly forgotten some relatives of some characters and therefore gotten slightly confused about how Misty connected to the Benedict Brothers, but then the huge "OOOHH" moment came when I remember and wanted to hit myself for it! It has to be said, that while there are some Benedict brothers in this book, I'm really sad that the focus has shifted from them and they're not in the books as much. I was hoping the original trilogy would carry on in to a series with the brothers and that this trilogy would be a side trip to explore some of the younger characters. I really miss the Benedict brothers and seeing them so much, and seeing Victor in this book...I can't even. I, and I'm sure many other fans, have a desperate need for Victor and his story! I NEED IT. And after seeing him in this book and the protective side of him I'm just like....GIVE IT TO ME NOW. But anyway. Back on track. For fans of the series, there's plenty of mentions of other characters, and how others are getting on. Like I said, there are brothers in it. We have Will in this book, finally seeking out his soulfinder and enlisting Angel's help and because nothing ever goes smoothly for our Savants, especially with a dodgy journalist around trying to expose them....a couple of the others pop up to help. I have a feeling Angel Dares is going to make many a Summer reading list, the setting just vibes with Summer and reading it now in October...I could feel the sunlight and the warmth and long for it! When I was reading I was there, in the Summer sun, at a festival and completely lost in the book. I completely loved the setting. The whole "band romance" storyline is one that I can get on board with, as you don't really see it a lot and it was an interesting direction to take considering Savants try to keep quiet and off the radar. Seeing as how I've spent a lot of time at music festivals, the setting was very evocative for me, and I could relate to lots of things and I would remember lots of my own memories! I've got to say, I loved Angel immediately. I loved her personality, and her ability to attract trouble like a magnet. I loved her positivity and her determination, and I kind of wanted to punch Marucs towards the end of the book, on her behalf! Angel, to me, wasn't the typical damsel in distress. Yes she had to be rescued, she didn't have any other options, but she was perfectly capable of taking care of herself as she demonstrated more than once. Her mistakes where ones that you could forgive her for because they where mistakes most people make...without the Savant complications! She wasn't a perfect character and that made her so real and likeable, it was off the charts! Marcus. Well....I can't lie. He was a complete douche in the beginning and that's being polite! I spent a lot of the book kind of rooting for him and Angel, but then wanting to smack him one and kind of disliking him. But then he'd do something sweet and I like him.....for him to then be a douche again. Events at the end of the book really made me angry at him though...not going to lie! Like he did do the right thing, but he didn't really want to and he didn't believe Angel or believe in her. Sometimes it was understandable but other times you where just like...damn...Angel got the short straw! He really was a reluctant hero, and mucked up at every given opportunity so he wasn't your average romantic hero! Marcus and Angel where kind of the perfect contrast. He's so serious and takes himself so seriously, whereas Angel is completely happy and positive all the time and just wants to have fun and make the most of every opportunity. The thing with the romance was, that while Angel liked him and wanted him and everything...she didn't put up with his crap and how he was treating her, and she actually did hate him at some points, much like I did! Throughout the book, you where wondering if this was going to be one of those times soulfinders didn't actually work out, and you weren't sure how they could get together and have their happily ever after and everything so you never knew where it was going or what was going to happen next. Angel was incredibly strong about the whole Marcus douche thing as well, which made me kind of sad when she did forgive him, because while it was completely cute and literally had me flailing with the cute....I really did feel like she forgave him far too easily and wished the book had a few more pages so it wasn't quite so rushed. But still. The romance, when Marcus wasn't being a douche, was actually really cute and gave you a definite case of the warm and fuzzies. Seriously. It's one of the things I love about Stirling's books...the romance is always well written, never easy, and always makes you go all "aaawwww squeeeeeee" with the romance. I was so sad we didn't get more of Will, he's in the book because we're actually looking for his soulfinder and he does....ya know...find her...but I wanted to bask in Will finally finding her, but he and his SF where more like supporting characters and we didn't see more of their romance and I was like "I NEED MORE!". Like I said, I'm totally sad the books are veering from the Benedicts because I loved them as characters and I wanted to see more of them and their HEA's! Victor in this though....I LOVE HIM. I loved the vibe of the book, it was funny, like there where so many funny scenes that had me cracking up or smiling or just chuckling. The setting was fun and vibrant. The characters where fantastic. We get more of Misty and Alex as well as Summer, and I love how Stirling gives you all these characters, and while I might want to see more of the Benedicts and everything, each character, no matter how much they're in the book, is well developed and you learn a decent amount about them to understand them. The setting and the events and reactions and so on, where all very authentic. Especially Angel's meeting with the lead singer of Gifted....I think we've all been there with the whole *heavy breathing* "I'M NEVER WASHING THIS HAND AGAIN" *fangirls*. As well as other things. I just loved how I was reading, and thinking "so true" to a lot of the things happening. I found the book to be fairly unpredictable, there where some bits that I guessed, like the end...but it didn't diminish it because I was just getting more and more excited to get to it and the unending cuteness! I wasn't expecting the majority of turns, I was even wrong about which band Marcus belonged to! There where a couple of things that I guessed...but got completely wrong and I loved not knowing how it was all going to end and what was going to happen next. What I really loved, after seeing so many Savants who know what they are and have known about their gift all their lives and how to use it, was seeing so many Savants with no idea what they where. It was interesting to watch Angel handle the whole thing and how to explain and make them believe her, and see how the characters dealt with it and came to terms with it. This book is literally full of feels and there's loads of drama that has you on the edge of your seat, or biting your nails or wanting to punch other characters. You're groaning and going "noooooo" at some events and cheering at others and it's a complete rollercoaster with plenty of cute moments. I was glued to the page and read it in one sitting, I don't think I've ever not read one of Stirling's books in one go...it's a real problem. I'm like a binge reader of her books. I have no self control. I kinda wanted the book to last longer! Like I mentioned, Crystals has always been my favourite story because I related to her so much and loved her completely...but after reading this book and it having a (I want to say trope but I'm not sure it's the right word) storyline that I kinda, sorta love, and loving Angel so much....I think Crystal and Angel are kind of tied for favourite story and character! I really can't wait for Summer's story to see Angel and Marcus again, because I so want to see them being all cute and FINALLY together, with him all accepting of everything! I also want to know more about the mysterious Summer and see who her SF is...I'm kinda hoping for Victor but he's way too old sadly. I'm assuming/hoping that we get Victors HEA in Summer's story and I'm hoping we get to see loads of Victor and his SF as well as Summer's because I've waited SO LONG for Victors!

Angel was just sooo happy and funny! i loved her!!! i loved the way she thought and the way she was managing her problems! i liked the fact that she had named her emotions as Angry Angel, Proffesional Angel XDDD it was awesome! even if the action scenes were... like two or so- the book was awesome and sooo sweet! i loved Angel's gift of nipulating the water and Marcus gift was SO COOOL!!! i was like 'WOW!!!!! YAY! BEST GIFT!' but then i thought of Sky and her eartquake gift and shrugged still admir Angel was just sooo happy and funny! i loved her!!! i loved the way she thought and the way she was managing her problems! i liked the fact that she had named her emotions as Angry Angel, Proffesional Angel XDDD it was awesome! even if the action scenes were... like two or so- the book was awesome and sooo sweet! i loved Angel's gift of nipulating the water and Marcus gift was SO COOOL!!! i was like 'WOW!!!!! I loved the end! it was happy and oh my.... I LOVED THAT HE CHANGED THE SONG FOR HER!!!! AND THAT HE PROMISED TO WRITE A NEW ONE FOR HER AND THAT SHE SAID TO WRITE ONE REPLYING HIS AND THAT THEY WERE GOING TO PLAY IT WITH THEIR BANDS TOGETHER!!!! AHHH! IT WAS SOOO SWEET! i didnt like it when Victor didnt trust her a new phone when all the other had a new one and when she listened to Victor and said taht she was going to 'grow a little' and changed her way of talking and cheering. plus that noone else noticed it except Kurl and Marcus! but then! the author as always changed all this that you would probably not like and said that if Angel hadnt done all the things she had with Davis and Marcus and so on that they wouldt be able to catch Davis! that made the not so good moments disappear! i cant understand how tha author do that but in every single book she finds the things that the reader wouldnt like and changes them making you LOVE all of the books! THANKS TO THE AUTHOR FOR WRITING SO AWESOMELY AMAZING BOOKS.

This book was awful. I did not finish it, and it was a fucking RELIEF to put this book down. The only reason I gave it 2 stars, was because the main character Angel was so damn delightful. I'm so mad that she was given such an asshole as a soulfinder. Marcus is a DICK . The problems with Marcus were evident from the very beginning. He's one of those assholes who assumes that because a woman stands next to a man, they've obviously dating. He jumps to conclusions, and most damning of all: believ This book was awful. He jumps to conclusions, and most damning of all: believes every woman around him just wants to be with him because he's famous. Bitch, you are NOT THAT GREAT. But the worst part of this whole book, the part where I tapped out and actually shrieked in frustration, was when Angel got kidnapped, stuck in a container that was quickly filling with water, contacted Marcus telepathically, and this was his response: "You're doing this on purpose, aren't you? You already told me water was your friend. Is this another of your "get Marcus's attention" plots? Show your power over me by making me drop everything for you?" "You cold bastard! No, it damn well isn't!" He was angry with me - with me! This isn't a good time, Angel. Give me twenty minutes and I'll be finished up here. You've got your own performance in ninety minutes - you'd better be here for that."

Can't wait to read the next one even though i'd hate that it's gonna be the last one.. The Savants series are one of the best, easy-to-read books, it's gonna be a shame that it's gonna be the end of them..
