She’s coping so badly, in fact, and feels like such a fraud that she has decided to end her own life. She goes to Open Skies Ranch to prepare her third book for publication, knowing that once it’s done, she’ll be free to end it all. Three years ago, Eric Neilson was shot in the chest and told that his only hope was a heart transplant. He beat the odds – and he’s now at Open Skies to meet the wife of the man whose heart is now beating in his chest. He only plans to see Annabeth, shake her hand, maybe have a casual coffee. He certainly has no intention of telling her who he is. On Annabeth’s last night, she asks Eric to stay and make love to her: she needs to do one last life-affirming thing, to feel alive just for a little while. Eric is resistant, but he knows now that Annabeth is not really healing or moving on, and stays with her to offer comfort. What neither of them count on is developing real, strong feelings for each other. As they begin to fall in love, Eric grapples with the knowledge that he must tell her the truth. But if he does, won’t he lose her forever? Or maybe Annabeth will find it in her heart to forgive him… maybe it’s possible that together, they will both finally have a happy ending?

This book is why I read the series, it has such an interesting premise. Eric is shot in the chest and needs a heart transplant, Annabeth's husband dies in a car accident and Eric gets his heart. So, you just know where this is going, yeah? What I didn't figure on was just how bloody lovely Eric is, and how he was into Annabeth from the get-go. However, once she clocked him one in the chops I lost a fair bit of respect for her. No hitting - ever! I really don't want to read about that. 3.5 stars w This book is why I read the series, it has such an interesting premise. This really disappointed me, after what Eric and Annabeth went through I wanted to SEE their happy, not just imagine it.

2.5 stars. I'll admit that this hasn't been my favorite series by this author, and I debated whether or not to read this story. I wasn't thrilled with the premise or the fact that we didn't know the main characters (we met Annabeth for about 3 seconds in the previous book and have never met Eric) but decided that I may be lost in book 5 if I skipped over this one. This book seemed very short, and I just couldn't really relate to the characters in that short amount of time. The plot felt rushed a 2.5 stars. This book seemed very short, and I just couldn't really relate to the characters in that short amount of time. The plot felt rushed as well, and I felt a bit more time could have been spent on the important issues. This book also didn't really have an ending, which is a pet peeve of mine. I understand they will probably be revisited in the next book, but this really need more of an ending. I was also underwhelmed by the Jake and Julie scene, which was one of my main reasons for reading the book! I had just wanted a bit more from that. I also find it annoying that when we catch up with the previous characters, they are always having sex. There is only a bit of dialogue, but not enough for me to actually care about what most of them are up to (specifically Tammy and Rob). I am excited to read book 5 since the couple is included in the Dangerous Curves series.

4 Stars Well I must admit I wasn’t 100% sure about this one before I got started. I was worried that the whole Eric having Cam’s heart could have been a little creepy, but I needn’t have worried as MJ manages to pull it off. Eric was great I loved him he was totally in from the start. Annabeth I also liked but I didn’t like her reaction when Eric told her about him having Cam’s heart. I fully understand she felt betrayed and upset but I don’t like the idea of her lashing out like she did……….aft 4 Stars Well I must admit I wasn’t 100% sure about this one before I got started. Anyway that aside I really enjoyed the story and can’t wait to learn more about this couple in the next book.

It is kind of like the movie Return To Me with Minnie Driver. I liked it but not the best from Marysol. I hate when you think there will be more because the Kindle is at 86% but the story ends and then there are previews for the next book! I really like her books but the endings are usually to quickly wrapped up and with a nice little bow.

Great book I enjoyed reading Annabeth's and Eric's story. I am glad they worked through everything and didn't give up on each other.

    Carol and Gary Curtis

Totally unusual, developed around the topic of suicide. With the romance as a secondary plot. This an easy, quick read but very gripping. I enjoy the author, Ms. James. She writes dialogue well and I will be following her work.

I wish I could rate this story higher. I liked the overall theme but feel that especially after the first three stories, this one lacked dome crucial elements of strength and flow. I felt it was a bit disjointed and did not appreciate it non-ending. I hope there will be more stories in this series. I would like to see how they all make out especially st the wedding. I recommend if you have been following the series to 14+ and mature due to adult situations snd themes.

I found this creepy and so far off the mark regarding organ transplant that I wanted to throw this story against the wall, but why ruin a perfectly good kindle for a really crappy story. This guy was a creepy liar praying on a grieving depressed widow. That he learned who his donor was and then stalked the widow is unconscionable and not romantic at all.

This was a book that took a tragedy and made an awesome romance! I cannot wait for her next book!
