Holy hotness! Hard Ridin' is not just great erotic romance, and it's not just great menage - although it is both. It's also a wonderful friends-to-lovers story (and I'm a sucker for them!) that has depth, likable characters, and tons of heartfelt emotion. Jens and Holden are sexy as all hell and the love scenes are deliciously erotic, especially when all three of them are involved and the guys are loving each other, too. Just an all-around fun, fast read. Highly recommend!

These 3 are supposed to be setting up their shared farm and planting their crops but all they do is have sex...It turns into a tug of war with both men trying to win the girl. This goes against everything I believe a true menage should be. This is more a competition and the guys are risking their life-long friendship. It gets a little better when they finally figure out that they can all be together at the same time. One of the only redeeming parts of this tale is the M/M relationship that eventually develops between Jens and Holden.

Holy hell... this was a HOT read! If you like cowboys and a believable menage, then Hard Ridin' is the book for you! But this idea does not go smoothly at first. Both guys have jealous feelings over the other spending time with Laurel. In alot of menage stories I have read, the idea just fell into the lap of the threesome and there were little or no emotions surrounding the decision. That always bothered me because if three people were not accustomed to sharing their lover with another or sharing themselves with a third party, I always felt there would initially be a struggle with the situation. Em Petrova sets this story up nicely. We see the struggle with all three characters trying to decide what is right for themselves and each other. It culminates into some really HOT, HOT sex scenes and a strong love between all three! I truly enjoyed this story! Great job, Em!

I wanted to see how this new to me author would take on the relationships and especially the character development and I really wanted porn free. This started out well, at least the first few chapters did. Laurel, a nutritionist by trade, recently quit her hospital job to start her own organic fruit and vegetable farm. Laurel’s a city girl and the farm life is new to her so her landlord, Jens, has been kind enough to show her the ropes, per se. The thing is - Laurel was going out with Jens best friend, Holden. Holden recently decided to take up fishing on the Bering Sea to make extra money so he’s been away for the last few months. During those months that Holden was away earning extra money (I still didn’t see the need for that) Jens and Laurel started dating. It turns out that Laurel couldn’t wait for Holden because he didn’t write her. So it’s off with Jens she goes. And of course, Jens didn’t know that his best friend was dating Laurel because best friends don’t share things like that. Psh, why would they? There’s some ruckus and hurt feels when Holden comes back into town to find Laurel in Jens’s arms but it’s all worked out when the guys decide to share Laurel. She’ll date them separately then decide who she wants to be with. And this is when the ridiculousness starts. After a plethora of sex scenes. Every ‘date’ was sex. No getting to know you just straight to the sex. Here’s where I just got irritated. This chick, Laurel, wants to start a farm - that means tilling the soil, planting the seeds, working the land, doing all the things that makes a farm successful and all she can think about is f*cking. She went from a likable heroine to someone I was just ready to be done with. Then there’s Jens - he’s the guy who’s got all the feels while Holden is hot tempered. Neither of these guys worked for me. They were a little too one dimensional. And what started out as a promising storyline turned into something that the author couldn’t convince me to like much less enjoy. Happy reading folks! Rating: D

She’s dating Jens and although she’s fallen for him, she doesn’t completely let him into her heart or body. She still longs for Holden, the man who left on a fishing trip and didn’t return. Holden dreams of coming home to Laurel, putting a ring on her finger, and settling down with her. Sadly, when he returns, he finds her in the arms of another man. Not just any man, though, his best friend Jens. The last thing Jens wants is to ruin his friendship. He is torn. On the one hand, he loves Laurel and will fight over her, but on the other he views Holden as a brother almost and would be devastated to lose his friendship. The characters in this book have something to gain and something to lose. Can they learn to share? Okay, so let’s start with Laurel. I loved her. She was sweet and passionate but also had flaws that made me smile. Once or twice she became insecure when noticing another woman’s perfume on one of her men. She is a good cook, but a horrible cleaning lady. I loved watching the heroes trip over her laundry or try to clean her room. Poor girl is a hoarder! Now for the heroes… I honestly had a hard time picking which hero I liked more. They both had something that appealed to Laurel and to me. Holden was dark and passionate, while Jens was the kind of man you can talk to for hours. When they decide on the ménage, that’s where the magic happens. My favorite sex scene in the book was the turning point when Holden and Laurel invited Jens into the bedroom without him actually being there (you’ll have to read it to know what I’m talking about). And then the first sex scene with all three of them.. oh… my….. Besides the sex though, there is a plot and an emotional storyline connecting all the characters. I definitely enjoyed this book and intend to read other works from this author. Well done!

I loved how the author focused on bringing three lives together by letting each-Laurel, Holden, and Jans-discover what means the most to them in such a natural way while they each prepare for planting season on the Rope Burn Ranch. Their story flowed seamlessly from two men fighting for one woman into a ménage relationship where each felt needed and wanted by the other two. In the beginning the tension was high between the three. Trust was hard earned and so little understood between Holden and Jans for the lack of communication. And let me tell you, that’s something ever southern woman understands. If a southern man can’t communicate it with a nod or a tip of the hat it doesn't get said and in this instance a lot could have been lost by both men because of it. I’m trying really hard not to give away anything to the story so I will leave you with this; Em Petrova will sweep you into the lives of three friends that fight for the love they feel for one another and find a deeper love they never knew could exist between two men and one woman. Hard Ridin’ is a sexy cause-your-heart-to-flutter kind of romance that will leave you breathless…and maybe a little in love with two irresistible cowboys. A steamy menage with a different beginning. Laurel thinks Holden has abandoned her and is falling for his best friend, but emotions erupt when he returns. Not one of my favorite from Em Petrova, but still a fun read. For me, although I love a MM or MMF, the ease Holden and Jens embrace it without any earlier attraction is a little surprising.

A smile spread through his heart. “Looks like you just bought a two-for-one deal, darlin’.” Laurel is caught between a rock and hard place, or rather two hot cowboys that she can’t choose between. When her lover Holden abruptly shows up after an eight month absence to find her making out on the dance floor with his best friend Jens, the fists start flying. These two cowboys both want her and are willing to fight to keep her. Holden messed up when he left to work on the fishing boat in Alaska (what a farmer cowboy is doing on a fishing boat in Alaska I have no idea), he never contacted Laurel either by phone or letter and this led to her thinking he didn’t want to be with her anymore. She turns to Jens for companionship, but they end up far more than friends. Jens had no idea that Holden and Laurel were together before, but now he is in love with her himself and is not going to let go. There is also the added issue that Laurel has rented a small tract of land from these cowboys, who jointly own a ranch, and has sunk all of her money into an organic farming venture. I enjoy reading ménages, but I very rarely find them believable. I mean how can two men share a woman and not be either extremely jealous all the time or hot for each other? What made this one work for me was the fact that it contained both. Each of these men start out very jealous of each other, to the point where there are fists fights and angry words exchanged. They only agree to “share” Laurel with the intention of battling for her affections. One of them gets her daytime hours and the other her nights. They flip a coin to decide who gets which. Seriously. They flip a coin. Laurel is in love with both men and simply can’t choose so she takes them up on the offer to share. After several weeks of Laurel getting the business around the clock two things happen…. First, Holden gets a taste of the combined juices of his woman and his best friend and gets really turned on and then the old man down the road dies and both him and Jens come to the realization that two men protecting Laurel are better than one. This leads to the three of them ending up in bed together, where Jens and Holden decide they feel more for each other than just friendship. The sex was hot, really hot, but this scene made me snicker: He was glad to see she possessed pubic hair. It was so much more feminine than some of the hairless women he’d seen in magazines. Besides, the hair would hold her scent and flavors better. Do men think these things when they finally get a woman out of her panties? Um, okay. Anyway, these two men are very different. Holden seems at first to be a hot head who leads with his emotions while Jens is the more laid back man who is really trying to find a way to keep everyone from getting hurt. In the bedroom these two switch personalities and Jens becomes the dominant who wants to control his lovers while Holden is willing to be directed into doing what will give them all the most pleasure. I think I found the two men discovering their attraction for each other to be the sexiest parts of the love scenes. Lots of eye contact, hard kissing and moaning and groaning. Good stuff. There is a slight issue at the end that makes both men act like idiots, do the wrong thing and almost mess up the good thing they’ve got going. This didn’t really add or subtract from the story other than to make me shake my head at their stupidity. It did lead to a super hot love scene. This ménage worked for me. I enjoyed all the characters and found their road to happiness to be one of the more believable ones I’ve read in a while. All in all a pleasant, erotic way to spend the afternoon reading. Final Grade: B- Favorite Quote: “I was so afraid I lost you both,” he murmured in a grating voice. She shook her head and pressed her lips to the place in his throat where his pulse beat frantically. “Never. It’s always been the three of us, Jens. Without you, Holden and I can’t function.”

One of the main characters, Holden, is such a total ass from the start that I had a hard time getting into the story. On page two of the book he returns from eight months on a fishing boat, having not once contacted his girlfriend and then is shocked to discover that she has moved on. From there the story got better but then after a while I found myself skimming the book looking for something interesting to happen. Too much time time is spent with a lame plot involving organic farming and property ownership. Clearly Petrova knows nothing about either subject so its a puzzlement why she wanted to spend so much time on things she couldn't bother to research. (It takes several years to convert to organic and it has to be monitored - you don't just plant some organic seeds and then people just trust that it is organic. Land transfers entails this thing called a title search to verify ownership, so someone doesn't show up on your doorstep years later claiming ownership.) The relationship stuff was given short shift. There was a few hot sex scenes but everyone just took the relationship in stride. The only issues the trio had was due to the highhanded behavior of the guys in business matters, not because the guys had any issues at all with becoming intimate. There were a few nice moments, emotionally, but the story overall just didn't work for me.

The hottest part was when Holden’s feelings towards Jen start escalating from friendship to something more. I’d definitely recommend it for a quick ménage read. The writing was good and the story although not that developed, was sweet and hot. A nice 3.5 STARs for me.

The book was enjoyable enough. It was a short, quick and easy read. The story was told from the point of view of all three parties, so you were able to get a feel for all of their emotions. In most ways it is like your other typical happily ever after ménage story. However, unlike some other books this one did touch a little on jealousy. Everyone was not portrayed as being happy with the situation the entire time.

At first I was a little dubious about reading this even though it looked interesting. Only because I couldn't find any good reads reviews on any of Em's books or on Nook for that matter. Any way took a chance and brought this book of hers and as you can see by my 4stars I loved it. Loved the development of the characters, and also where the story headed, some of it unexpected. Loved that everyone makes mistakes and are human. Really very hot also.
