This book was pretty good. Not great, but pretty good. Gwen was quirky and fun and made a great main character. I felt like we did not get to know Rick much more in this book. She literally had no backbone. Even when she finally stood up for herself at the end, I didn't really believe it. She was whiny and needed to get over herself. That wasn't my biggest problem though. The thing that bothered me the most was that no one seemed to face any consequences for their actions. Aside from Camille's guilt, it seemed like there was no real fallout from the events. Everyone just continued living the way they had. How is Gwen dealing with her status change? Is Camille still living with her toxic mother? These are important questions that I got no answer to, so even though the story wrapped up, it doesn't feel complete. 3.5/5 stars

Oakies, I'm slowly but surely working my way through the Chick Lit books I downloaded last Summer. Most all of them have been happy reads with warm, funny stories. This book doesn't quite fit into what I call Chick Lit but I got it because I knew it would have romance in it, and who doesn't want some romance while they are on vacation? (That's what I got it for) Though I didn't read it while on vacation, instead it was read over two of the coldest days in South Texas it did warm my heart. The story was a little implausible, a missing wine heiress living in disguise in San Francisco, only to hook up and casually date a private eye. Who just happened to want to know her secrets, but agreed not to dig for them while they were in the throws of having hot, passionate sex. Then there was the journalist, Camille. So desperate to please her mother she for goes her dreams of being a writer and her chances of snagging her crush Dylan, she gets the unenviable task of covering the story of Gwen (the runaway heiress) who is now a gourd artist that has been chosen to show her pieces in the local museum. It is her that uncovers Gwen's secret and outs her to the world. What I loved the most about this book was its easy pace and style, there was nothing that didn't draw you in no matter how much you thought the story wouldn't play out the way it did. The characters were likable, and the men deadly sexy. Isn't that what you want in a romance novel? I do. I, at times wished the story had a little more depth or dimension, but overall when I reached the end I was smiling. This is the perfect beach read, there is nothing better than sun, sea and hot, hot seduction.

So, I picked this book up as a daily freebie and figured "why not". Is is completely not my usually genre so I did not have high expectations. What's more is- in addition to opening my mind to genres I'd normally skip over is... like I said in the title this book inspired me. The main character, Gwen is an artist. I myself used to draw, paint, and I am a photographer (on and off due to depression). There were these little conversations where, her artist self would talk with a non-artist and explain to them that they do not need to "know how to paint" and they just "sort of do it" and ... without giving anything away or using direct quotes... what this character said to non-artists and people claiming they "can't" completely inspired me to get my own art supplies back out and create some paintings and drawings. That is amazing as I have been in a deep depression, mourning the loss of my daughter since 5.2.2012... I used to have good days and bad days but lately, just bad days. Kate Perry created a character who has inspired me to get back to my artwork and I just KNOW that doing so will make me feel better. Thank you, Ms. Perry for the built-in inspiration and maybe even cheering up I found in your novel. I can never thank you enough, really. You may have really helped me to begin to heal. I'd love to connect with you on FB or other media, if you're up for it. Either way, thank you so much.

Kate Perry's Laurel Heights series just keeps getting better and better. I really like the way a background character from one story becomes the main character in another story. Gwen is NUTS! Her character is just so loveable. And her banter with Rick and their obvious attraction add to the cuteness of this book. I'm glad things worked out for her secrets exposed and all!

I should have liked this more than I did. Here's the basic story: Gwen owns Outta My Gourd (love the name) in LH; Rick is a PI. We met Rick in Return to You; he's also a good friend of Olivia's. Rick and Gwen seem to hate each other, but are attracted to each other, so we know where that's headed. Gwen is an artist but is also not who she seems... and has jumped through hoops to change her identity and get away from her greedy wealthy family. The problem is that she's such a good artist that she I should have liked this more than I did. Here's the basic story: Gwen owns Outta My Gourd (love the name) in LH; Rick is a PI. The problem is that she's such a good artist that she attracts attention from a museum and the press. And then we're introduced to Camille, a journalist with an overbearing mother who only wants Camille to follow in her journalistic footsteps. Camille has a friend and potential love interest in Dylan, a successful fiction writer who encourages Camille to find her true voice, not just follow her mother's voice. There's a parallel between the two storylines which is fairly interesting, but the two romances aren't evenly addressed and I was left confused about what was going on with Dylan, since he's a secondary romantic hero in this story. There is a third story here which is blown away as events about Gwen unfold: her relationship with 14 yr old Laurel, a student at Gwen's non profit art center. I loved that relationship and really wanted to know more about this teenager and her parents. But that went nowhere. Essentially this is a story about trust and finding your own voice despite what your family wants. I think the author tried to do too much in this book. We're supposed to like Rick, but he's less interesting than Gwen and her background. Their relationship felt uneven and unresolved at the end. It seemed to me that there was a lot more that needed to be addressed.

Yes, they was some hostility between them, but there was definite sparks flying. I loved both Gwen and Rick together. Not only were their scenes together hot but just I loved the dynamics between them. Gwen is a local gourd artist and has always been a less forth coming about herself and her past. She gets along with everyone with the exception of Rick Clancy. Gwen knows that if she has intention of keeping her past a secret she needs to keep away from the sexy private eye. No one can find out that she's actually the long lost Grape Princess. If they do, her quite life that she's come to treasure will be at an end. Rick knows that Gwen is hiding something. He's not exactly sure what it is, but his gut is telling him there is more to her story and his gut is never wrong. So he begins to observe Gwen in the hopes of finding what she's hiding. But the more time he spends observing her and talking with her, Rick is finding her charm hard to resist. Not only is she charming, but she's just so cute and sexy. I loved watching these two finally let down their walls and get together. The chemistry between them is great and they are both hot together. Like I said before, I really enjoyed this book and I am really enjoying Miz Perry's Laurel Heights series and I can't wait for more. **ARC copy provided by Author**

Until she started dating a private investigator, Rick, and simultaneously was being honored for her artwork by a very influential museum. Between a P.I. who was interested in getting to know her better and the media coverage of her art, her secret past began to rise to the surface. Fearing that her new life that she has perfectly created will be destroyed, Gwen spends her days plotting her next move to protect herself, her romance and her art. For me, this book was really about a person's ability to choose their own path in life. Gwen was strong enough to leave her life behind and start fresh, which gave her the freedom to be whoever she wanted to be. But more than that first big break, once she had life figured out she also had to learn to be strong enough to accept her past, acknowledge it, and to continue being herself. Just because old ghosts can come back to haunt us, we don't have to be a slave to them. Gwen had to learn that breaking free from her past gave her the opportunity to set herself on the right path but that when the past resurfaced, she was now in a situation that allowed her live with it.

The main character of Looking For You had a cool backstory and I really liked the premise of the whole novel. However, I feel like the book was just like any other quick, romantic love story. When I read that I had to fight the urge to laugh and wonder if this was really a published book. But then I read the next sentence and was relieved that Kate Perry wasn't writing in purple prose. But there were some things in the novel that I had issues with. I was really surprised about how quickly everything happened in the novel. In the first chapter they went from denying how much they hate each other to accepting that they lust (at least it did not go straight to love) after each other. I also did not like Camille's part in the novel. I think her part was just too small and maybe a little irrelevant. To me it detracted from the story instead of adding to it. It's just because the novel was short. The author didn't have enough room to develop Gwen and Camille into main characters. Despite the flaws, it was pretty amusing and good for wanting to shut off your brain and entertain yourself on a boring weekend.

Such a different idea having TWO love stories per book. One as the main story with another one (a neighbor, relative, etc.) on the side. She's a struggling reporter with a famous, nagging mother. Her love interest, Dylan, is a writer, who believes she can do more than write fluff pieces in a small newspaper. Again all the friends gather together to support and help the struggling lovers tear down the barriers. Though the group is getting so large I wonder if they'll all fit into Eve's cafe by the end of the series. I also have no idea how her friends Eva & Olivia make money at their stores when they're always giving things away. There's alot of humor and warmth in these stories and this one doesn't disapoint. Quen is flamboyant and is always doing crazy things. But she has a good heart and spends time helping at a teen art group. Rick has his hands full keeping up with her. Favorite scene: The swimming pool.

There is still the threat of uncovering Gwen's secret, but it won't be coming from Rick. That guy is in too deep. I liked how Gwen chose her own path. To find happiness she had to leave a lot behind, but I think most was worth it. What I also really like how there is always a third POV/character that gets their own storyline. It's short and sweet, but also gives you more insight in their thought process as they often have an influence on the main story line. I think Looking For You has been my favourite so far. Gwen is just that little extra crazy and Rick is simply the total package. The mystery in the plot makes it a bit more interesting and the hot scenes are as delicious as ever. Another great one from Kate Perry.

I have truly enjoyed reading previous books in the Laurel Heights series, and it seems they just keep getting better! It's very satisfying that the author brings her charming lead characters along, weaving them into subsequent tales; have you ever read a really good novel and just hated when it ended, because you weren't ready to say "goodbye" to the characters you had grown to love? With Kate Perry's novels, no need! They are there, living their happy/sad/normal/exciting lives and being loyal friends to each other. - In Looking For You, the heroine Gwen just wants to create her gourd art and keep her past at bay, but circumstances conspire to 'out' her eventually, and she must cope with the fallout. An intertwining story follows Camille, the reluctant journalist, who wants to escape her mother's expectations and find her own voice. She is the catalyst for Gwen's exposure to the public, but her regrets in having done so also change her life for the better. Kate Perry always delivers an engrossing story, but beyond that, I'm impressed by her understanding of human nature: how much we seek the approval of loved ones in our lives; how deeply we sometimes just need to be hugged and accepted; how passion can evolve between two unlikely people, who are just listening to their hearts and ignoring any societal attitudes about their coupling. - Don't miss this wonderful book! ~

You reach the end before you know it.

This version had a lot of typos. I'd like to believe that's a transition from paper to electronic, not the authors fault. The story of Gwen is an intriguing one. I rooted for her privacy the whole time and of course liked the chemistry she had with Rick. I only wish the story were a bit longer so that we could of had more build up to their relationship. Both characters Gwen and Camille have issues with their mothers and being someone who they don't want to be. Gwen has found a way in life she is comfortable with and while Camille is trying to prove herself to her mother- Gwen helps her learn how to be herself. If you want to continue to read about Laurel Heights, this book does it justice :)

I did not care for Camilla’s story line with her trying to win her mothers’ approval. I get that there are parent and children relationship similar but I just wanted to Gibbs’s slap Camilla. The story was ok and I was glad I had gotten this as a free read. I am not a fan of reading a book with a main story line and then a second romance. Why can’t authors write novels about the main characters and then a novella for the minor characters? I also thought Gwen story line was blah. She wanted to live her life without the heiress shadow but that plot was weak and did nothing to hold my attention.

Wine heiress Genevieve de la Roche has reinvented herself. Now known as Gwendolyn Pierce, she sports a bohemian lifestyle and earns her living as a gourd artist. Despite the lies and deceit, two people find true love. The characters are likable and the issues are rational. It's not a story that got my adrenaline going though, but I still enjoyed the simple plot and brevity. The best part is, I got it free!

Okay I really liked this book for some reason. It was FREE!! download on kobo so I was not getting my hopes up.. although I should have known seeing as I am addicted to Marie Force's books as a result of one free download. It was interesting and I really liked it. So much so that I am no reading the firts book I downloaded for free by Kate Perry. I think I may have just found a new fav author.

I am really enjoying this series - it has improved with each successive book. This one revolved around Gwen, a lady who likes her privacy, and Ric, a private investigator who's intrigued by her. Gwen has good reason for attempting to keep folks at arm's length, including Ric - but it only fuels his curiosity. I like how the romance develops between the two of them and while there's no surprises here, it is still plenty of fun. The side story involving Camille and Devyn was nice as well and really could have been developed into its own novel. My main complaint is that the denouement was a bit simplistic and I just had a hard time buying into the entire resolution with her family. Other than that it was a good tale for a steamy summer afternoon.

I loved this book as I have several of the other Kate Perry books. I find them to be a quick feel good reads. The story of Gwen and Rick was no different for me, I was drawn in by the banter between the two-I love some good banter between two strong characters especially when their banter makes you feel the sexual tension dripping between them. Kate does an excellent job of interloping characters between stories without requiring you to read all the books in a series. I haven't looked yet if there is a #5 in this series but if there is I hope it involves Lola and her finding her a happily ever after.

Looking for You is a fun story about Gwendolyn and Rick. Gwen is a gourd artist, who lives her life her own way. Rick is a private detective, who knows that there is more to Gwen's life than she puts on. These two characters have a lot of tension between them, and it nearly explodes every time they are together. He can't seem to stop digging for her secrets, and she desperately wants them to stay covered up.
